Maybe none of you have been there...or maybe a lot of you have. Anyways, this last week or so ago i went to Peace Jam which is this conference in my area (and in many other areas as well). There you get to meet a Nobel Peace Prize winner and in the group you came in (like mine was a school group) you come up with a project you can do in yor area to help with world peace. My group has decided that we are going to take up the issue of landmines(which was what our Nobel Prize winner won her award for). We have decided to write petitions, write letters, talk to the people at our school, and(possibly) have a 'Jam for Peace' where we get local bands to come out and play and in between sets we tell poeple about the problem and ask them to sign petitions. We'll also ask them to pay to come to this and send the money to the effort to ban land mines. Although this last idea might not pan out, the rest we are positive in doing. It might not have much of an impact, but it might as well...you never know. Another point of this is that if anyone reading this has heard something about Peace Jam i strongly suggest you go...it was one of the most fun experiences i've had. THANKS. -Alli
