I was just reading about the hunger issue and I had an idea. Tell me what you guys think. How about organizing a bring a bag lunch day in school, and encouraging kids to donate that lunch money towards hunger for that day. Or maybe even a week! I was just thinking how americans spend over a billion dining out, so this just came to me. I'm not sure how the lunch ladies would feel though...

thats a wonderful idea, except that schools are required 2 serve lunch every day cuz for sum kids its their only meal of the day or their biggest meal of the day or... anyway, schools have 2 make sure everyone has a lunch 2 eat, thats y they do free and reduced price lunches. so we'd have 2 figure out something 2 do about that. if i think of anything i'll post again. again, great idea!

brilliant idea! surely one day a year, where students are deprived of french fries, will not devastate anyone. and it doesn't cost that much to make a sandwich, grab an apple, and toss in a jello pudding cup and juice box. only time i guess.
you should send letters to some senators, and your school administration. if it went national it could truly be an amazing sign of things to come.

It sounds like a god idea, you should bring it up to someone at your school or to your parents. They could actually make it happen. They're are a lot of people going hungry in the country and we should help them since we aren't hungry and we have all the food we can eat.

Well, I'm not sure about you all, but where I go to school, it costs about $1.40 to eat lunch. To brign a bagged lunch, it would cost at LEAST $2, probably more. So your ideas good, but thats not the way to do it.

This sounds like a really good idea! I saved this topic from the doomed bottom of list and I think it would be an awesome idea!

How positively altruistic (usage?) and generous of you! I think that would work really well, especially in large schools. To pull that off, you would have to hype the day a lot so people would remember, but congratulations on a really kick-butt idea!
