I have discovered the meaning of life, and it is this:
Happiness.
Think about it!

I live for Jesus and to make a difference somewhere to someone. I also live to grow as a person.

I see you all have many goals you've set for yourselves, and that you can list many things that make you happy... but (and since there are other boards for THAT purpose) do you think it possible to find just one word(or a simple few) that sums up the motivations that carry you out of bed every morning and through you life everyday? "Happiness" and "Love" have been used already, isn't anyone here any different from your average Joe? And if you truly think you do live for "happiness", then what certain kind of "happiness" is it? Try your absolute best to try and come up with something original, that's still in general(like say "Growing Intellectually" as opposed to "watching TV 24/7"). This shouldn't be as hard as it's seeming to be to me.

I live for LOVE!! I mean SURE you suffer sometimes, but if you find the right person it can be the very best thing..... and besides GOD is LOVE...so I guess I live for him too. 'Cause he put me in this world for a reason...so I DO IT OR HIM! PEACE; OUT!

People can be unhappy because they are poor. However, people can be rich and still unhappy because they have no friends, or have never fallen in love, or because their parents are getting divorced, or their dog just died, blah blah… In the same way, people can be poor, but happy, because they have lots of friends, or they're in love, or their parents get along great, or their dog is in good health and in fact has never looked in better shape. So, money is not the key to happiness. In fact, in the case of multi-millionaires, many of them have wanted to become multi-millionaires and have been working towards it for years. But once they've made their millions, they are unhappy, because they have achieved everything they wanted to, and now they have nothing to gear their life towards. Their lives have become meaningless. In cases like these, money is the cause of misery. So yeah, money isn' t everything. -Pen

Definition one: I would say no, because I don't believe achievements can make you happy. It's an inner state. You have to learn to be happy despite what you can or cannot accomplish.
As for def. 2, inner fulfillment, that's closer to the mark. In that case, success would be the same as, or at least a major part of, happiness.

"Is it stupid to think that money can buy happiness for poor people?"
No, I don't think so. Maybe I should say, money CAN buy happiness, at least temporarily, but it doesn't guarantee happiness. If someone's starving, or barely making ends meet, then money could make them very happy. But just because someone has money, they're not necessarily happy.
Love, Jen.
