quote:stop following the moronic "Well if a celebrity says it must be bad it must be bad..."
yes, but don't fall into the trap of thinking "if a government official says it's good it must be good." everyone should think for themselves. unfortunately, the means and desire to gain and interpret information is sadly lacking.
Study and find out why we are arming agianst Iraq. Quit listening to stupid actors like Janene Garafablow and Matt Dubmon. For god sakes they are ACTORS. Read your history books about Stalin and Hitler and stop following the moronic "Well if a celebrity says it must be bad it must be bad..." group of lemmings GROW UP and learn why a country must defened itself. REMEMBER 9-11
it is totally and completly stupid...we are going to war for power...i have not only a political problem with Bush though, i also have a personal one...he, because of this war, has sent off my friends mom to Barain(a little island between Iraq and Iran)...this war is a need for power just like his dad wanted it..now, if this stuff hadn't of happened Bush would be fine..and to top it off Bin Laden attacked us during this power hungry idiots term! Now...i hate this stupid war and it should never of been started...half the world agrees with me...but nnnooo...don't listen to them! this war is stupid and should never of been brought around...
Maybe you are right, maybe that is what our president is doing. Maybe it could be that he is trying to save his presidency so he can be reelected next year. OR maybe he actually is tired of what is going on in Iraq. Yes many people will die, many will be innocents, but if we don't go in now, more people will die later. Did you not see Colin Powel's speecha few weeks ago? Yes North Korea HAS admitted to possessing NUCLEAR weapons, but Saddam Hussein is openly proclaiming that he does not have ANY illegal weapons whatsoever, none. Biological, Chemical, or Nuclear, and yet we have all this evidence that says they do. Iraq has had 4 years to clean up, and they did not. Plus, look at how the people of Iraq are treated now, if we don't go and stop it, it will continue. I am sorry, yes innocent people WILL die, but that always happens, it is sad but true. So, a few now, protecting the future of Iraq and the rest of the world, or more later, and a more-than-likely worse situation in the pretty near future.
I extremely oppose the war in Iraq. Bush has no authority to declare a war on Iraq, yet I don't think that'll stop him; He's a man with a mission, and he's out to kill thousands of innocent Iraqi's, Kurds and Americans. I hate it when stupid people set out with a plan!
The war is completely unwarranted - Bush is deliberately sending the US into war for revenge, and oil. Is that worth fighting over? I know he "says" that its a war against Terrorism, but Osama Bin Laden attacked us on Sept. 11th - not Saddam Hussein! Have you noticed lately that our main target is now Saddam? How exactly did that change come about ... Because the war is unjust, and its only an excuse for Bush to seek revenge, and quench his thirst for oil and power. North Korea is openly declaring its possesion of nuclear weapons, yet the US government doesn't care because Korea doesn't have oil! Does Bush realize that if North and South Korea were to unite (which is now possible,) they would be a dominating world power? That to me is a bigger threat!
Don't get me wrong, I dont agree with the way Saddam is treating the people of Iraq, but is killing them going to better their situation? I strongly oppose war with Iraq, for many reasons; Especially without UN support. Our allies aren't even supporting us! War is wrong. War is worse without reason - Bush has no reason.
I guess I made you misunderstand me. My view is that,Saddam is evil, but it's not the reason to attack this country, the people have suffered enough.I didn't think he was innocent,I was saying, the war would not even hurt him,but the people would get killed.Because he has brainwashed the people in Iraq. The UN should arrest Saddam but we shouldn't do anything worse to this messed-up country. Maybe I'm immature myself but it looks like...2 kids are arguing because the strong one is concerning the weak kid may attack him.He doesn't want the teacher to punish the bad kid,he just shoots the weak kid's home and his pets down...and the bad kid may still escape.
I'm not involved directly, but I think this war will affect the whole world. You are a good soldier indeed because you are fighting for what you think is right, but is the war necessary at all...
I do believe that we should go to war with Iraq. Why? Because, no matter what we do, a war will begin. We have already opened the possibility, and to back down now would show us to be cowardly. Think about, in Powell's speech he showed all these reasons to the UN why war should be declared, and we have practically declared war already, we are just waiting for the UN's support. If the UN doesn't support us we will attack anyway. And, if we don't attack, Iraq will just become more powerful, whether they create more Biological weapons, or nuclear. By the way, if you think biological weapons aren't a problem, you should probably know that most people under 20 years old, maybe more, have not been given the small pox vaccine. If one person came to the US, and they had small pox, with a few weeks the plague would be spread to the entire United States with all of the traveling people do now, basically infection would be impossible to avoid. So, do you really want to sit around while Iraq enlarges its fair amount of weapons it already has? Yes, people will die, including civilians. However most of our military will attempt to not harm any of their civilians. While, if they do harvest terrorists, they wouldn't mind another catastrophe like September eleventh. I do sympathize for any of you that have military families, but if they don't fight now, it could be you fighting later in the case of draft, so perhaps you should be thanking everyone that is heading out to fight today for the well-being of the citizens of tomorrow, even if they lose their lives in the process.
quote:Do the New York protesters not remember that after 9-11, on the front page of all Iraqi newspapers, they praised the attacks saying the suicide bombers were heros? What the hell is wrong with you people that you forget so quickly!?
who says anyone forgot? those of us in new york had front seats to that day - don't you dare suggest that people who protest simply forgot that day - i personally saw both towers on fire; i saw the second tower fall; i saw people scrambling to buy masks because they were afraid biologic agents were carried on the planes; i had my parents deperately trying to call me because i was in southern manhattan that day - all while you were safe in a classroom watching it on tv. i remember that day a hell of a lot clearer than you do. to insinuate that protesting a war in iraq stems from forgetting about 9/11, or how some people in the world rejoiced over the burning of my town is insulting and naive.
the world is more complicated than accepting everything the government wants at face value. maybe the protesters haven't realized how deep terrorism runs. but your attitude is a sure-fire ticket to pitting the muslim world against the christian world. it's a dangerous game that the US is playing, and to rush into it blindly will be disasterous. killing saddam will not end hatred against america. we cannot allow ourselves to be so easily painted as an anti-muslim nation - otherwise terrorism will run that much deeper.
yes, saddam is a butcher and a tyrant. yes, i'd rather see him dead than alive. but not at the cost of igniting a jihaad. saddam is evil - but going into war with such scant evidence and little world support puts us into an extremely dangerous position.
You speak of Iraqi Affairs freely, are you involved with the Iraq situation at all? I am. I'm a soldier and I'm heading overseas soon to fight Iraq, and that innocent man you are referring to is butchering his own people and plans on using gas and other chemical agents on his own soldiers and ours. Don't think for a minute there is nothing wrong with Saddam, he is a tyrant and must be taken down regardless of cost.
Trying to save the world again... The same siutation in many countries in Africa,India, and some asian countries, some of them even suffer more. Why aren't you saving them? Because they are not Iraq. They don't involve your safety.
It's all about Saddam!I know you are trying to protect your own country from the biggest terrorist in Iraq, that is the main reason, stop cheating yourselves saying you are saving the people,it's what you may help.It can be a result but it's not the motivation.Even though you think so,I don't think the politicians in the government are doing all the crap for this. The people in Iraq won't think so either. The US is NOT the judge of this world, and you needn't be.Becasue you have failed already, the economic crack down on Iraq ruined the people's life, kept them out from the world(yes,Saddam should thank you for this.It helped him rule Iraq easier.People don't see the world, how would they know who is wrong?)But Saddam is still fine.No matter what you do to this COUNTRY,Saddam may still be all right but the people definitely won't. Saddam is using the people, and if you attack this country you are in his trap. UN or an international lawcourt should do something to Saddam.Flames of war can't catch him,he just need this to get sympathy from the world and trust from the people.
Here is a copy of a letter I wrote earlier to celebrity idiots. Now here it is for you.
Who in the hell do these people think they are!!?? Sean Penn, Mike Farrell, Barbara Streisand, etc......you need to wake up! Who are you trying to protect? The people of Iraq have been tortured, murdered, raped and oppressed by Saddam....NOT THE U.S.!
Lets start with torture. Iraqi children have had their eyes gouged out in front of their parents to force information. How about the death rooms? Small 6x10 rooms equipped with pvc pipes that drip acid from the ceiling through different holes at different times forcing the person to keep moving and ultimately dying a slow horrible death.
These idiotic celebrities (traitors) need to learn the history of Saddams' regime BEFORE they put our country down!
When other countries, such as Russia, enslaved countries after World War Two.....We, the great USA, helped rebuild Germany and Japan, gave them democracy, and today they thrive.
We are not going to war for oil. We are going to war to maintain stability in the world so we're not at a madmans mercy! Don't forget about 9-11! Times have changed, we must protect ourselves as well as the rest of the world from fanatics who do not believe in freedom or human rights. If need be we will do this without the help of Germany, France, Russia OR Martin Sheen.
Concerning the protests. Do the New York protesters not remember that after 9-11, on the front page of all Iraqi newspapers, they praised the attacks saying the suicide bombers were heros? What the hell is wrong with you people that you forget so quickly!? Even if Saddam did not destroy the towers himself, he HAS and continues to sponser terrorism. He IS a terrorist! Don't forget, he has gassed his own people.
So Barbara, Martin, Woody and the rest of you high profile traitors.......why don't you pull your heads out of your *****? Do you need publicity this badly? Good thing you live in a great country that allows you to spew your nonsense to other low life anti-americans that listen to your garbage.
So Sean Penn, you want to save the children of Iraq by letting them live their lives in fear under the rule of a murderous madman!!?? You are so far off.....so backwards. Then again you have always been a level headed clear thinking bloke haven't you? Like the papparazi incidents , you still bite the hand that feeds you.
The Iraqi people deserve a chance at freedom. My own children deserve to be safe. We WILL liberate Iraq. Hopefully all of you, "actors", will lose your careers. SHAME ON YOU!!!
As a peace activist I am always finding different ways to let my voice be heard or to work against this unjust war. I am so opinionated and passionate about working towards a peaceful world that sometimes it is difficult for people who oppose my views to talk to me. Few people that I'm friends or aquintances with are for the war, therefore i was very surprised when my very dear friend told me today that she was for the war in Iraq. she seemed a litle worried about what my reaction would be but i said " i love you anyway because you are a person w/ the right to ther own views... maybe if i didnt know you i might act a little different". thinking back on it I realize that it is important not to reject those who have differing opinions. I would say i generally do, but i sometimes find myself angry @ people who are 4 the war, which is unseless in my struggle for peace. IN order to make change we must embrace people. Mayve we can even learn from eachother. It is so important to be eduacted about these things. if anyone has any informatin they would like to share w/ me please feelfree.nullfrdancechic@cutey.com
I...uhh...don't really know what to say to that. Who's Jane?
Don't get me wrong, Saddam is an evil ****, but that doesn't mean that the US is a righteous angel just for opposing him. And I'm not an evil **** just for opposing them.
quote:I'm not anxious to have young and old die on the west coast or the east coast because we are afraid of what will come next. How many people do you want to see die because we don't act but allow a lunatic to export killer chemicals to the U.S. via terrorists.
What are you talking about? There still has been no evidence of Iraq supporting Al Quaeda or other terrorists that are after the US. If anything, a pre-emptive attack on Iraq made by the US without support from the UN or NATO would provoke further terrorist attacks.
quote:There are some lunatics in the world that do not like us. There are billions who are sane that do like us.
Not to justify their actions or anything, but I can really understand how lots and lots of people, expecially those living in the Middle East, would have a right to be really pissed at us. I mean, look at what our country has been doing in the past 75 years or so -- we've been imperialistic *******s. It's my impression that most people in the world dislike the US, and damn, I would too (and I do too).
I have no problem whatsoever with celebs speaking out on issues that they have emotion about. What I do have a problem with though, is that they are speaking about issues they know absolutely nothing about.
Prior to Iraq invadng Kuwait, people in the Middle East were truly frightened about what Mad Saddam wouild do next. They all know he is mad. They all know he is a raging lunatic. How do I know this? Because I had relatives living in Saudi Arabia.
I'm not anxious to have young and old die on the west coast or the east coast because we are afraid of what will come next. How many people do you want to see die because we don't act but allow a lunatic to export killer chemicals to the U.S. via terrorists.
College students are particularly vulnerable because of large numbers in college housing. I'm not motivated by economic surpluses right now even though I am a raging capitalist. Look, had we spent more on homeland protection during the past administration, we might have been better prepared to disrupt terrorist attempts and better managed to deal more effectively with Sept 11 atrocities.
Most celebs were wrong about past administration and the past administration was not as forthcoming as they could have been about possible threats to the U.S. They got hundreds of threats a week then, but did anyone ever tell us about any of them? And threats didn't start after the Kuwait war either. There are some lunatics in the world that do not like us. There are billions who are sane that do like us.
Celebs don't want to admit they have been so deadly wrong in the past, so they are not going to soon admit that they are wrong now.
I am completely against Bush's war with Iraq. I'm not trying to deny Saddam's shady past, but that is not what this war is about. It's about oil and George Jr. trying to finish what his daddy started. Look at all the "evil despots" in the world; I was recently in Haiti where the currupt government has been killing and abusing its people for decades. Is the U.S. trying to get rid of Aristid or any number of tyrants around the world? No, because Iraq has oil. I will NOT support Bush's selfish war. And I am ashamed by his representation of the American people, who are finally seeing what a dictator Bush is becoming.
quote: i would rather no he died so i could be free then to no Bush let us fall to that bastered Sadom.
What are you talking about ? The US is at NO risk from saddam, he has no weapons that can reach the US, the inspections have found no 'smoking gun' evidence. Dr.Blix has already refuted powells theory on that matter as seen/read no bbc. Cnn, for whatever reason, apparently removed 800 words from the transcript of that meeting, those 800 words being the ones that actually. Mattered. for further information on that, do a google search or something rather than continuing to speak with no information behind your rants.
quote: IF YOU ARE AN AMERICAN U SHOULD BE PROUD IF YOU ARE AN AMERICA YELL IT LOUDDDDDDDDDDD YELL IT LOUD
Unfortunately, yelling and killing is not what makes a country great, but the innovation and freedom that we have been known for in the past certainly does.
