More info to pass along, but I'm also getting reports (sources) telling me that scientists - though the mainstream media isn't picking up on this - are looking at "Planet X" to hit sometime around October of this year.
Planet X is what they call an enormous asteroid.
Not sure about all the details, but they see something coming.

Well yea, it's more like dust particles than cuncks o rock, and being a single, thin ring it's practically invisible from Earth. I tried to find a picture on line like the ones in my astro books... this came closest. It was taken by Voyager 2, the site says it used filters to acheive that color. Sorry it's so big...

My bet is that Joey is talking about THE Planet X. AKA, Nibiru. I'm making this assumption based upon the type of sites Joey usually frequents.
Basically, it's some prophecy that's full of holes and is a load of steaming bull.
However, we've still got to get off this planet and fast.

You're right, Ishtar. I am pretty sure Jupiter does have a ring, but supposedly, there is something about it that sets it apart from the others. Don't take my word for it, though. I thought the satellite thing was creepy as hell. A lot of those, if you click on them you will see, belong to intelligence agencies. There's actually a few "Skynet" satellites.. which I thought was kind of humorous, remembering the Terminator movies.
bauhaus, it's a given that Neptune and Saturn have rings. You should have been taught that in elementary school. Then again, it's information you can find anywhere on the net. But the little bit about Earth's satellites is something I learned in class after our physics teacher gave us a website.. which I believe is a NASA website. The main site cannot be accessed without authorization, but when you visit the page, a pop-up will appear with a picture of the earth and its satellites, represented by tiny white dots. You can see where they are positioned, and such. Take my word for it for now, if you please. I will post the site if I can get my hands on it again.

You're right... Jupiter doesn't have rings... it has a ring... at least last I heard. Please correct if there has been a recent discovery. All the gas giants have rings... natural rings... which makes four. At least last I heard that was the case. The satalite thing is kinda cool... kinda

What I find rather interesting is that three of the planets now have rings. [no, Jupiter is not one of them] Saturn, Neptune, and Earth. It's fascinating.. but suddenly, when you realize that Earth's ring is really composed of countless man-made satellites... the idea becomes a little less "cool" and a little more scary.
As I recall, NASA's official website has a pop-up window that will show Earth with its satellite-ring. You can select any satellite [represented by white dots] and see its name, where it is passing over, how fast it is moving, etc.
Off topic, as always. But in case someone else might find it interesting.

oh? care to quote? and i'm assuming you mean in our solar system. planets outside our system have been found using a variety of methods. the likeliness of there being a nineth "planet" is highly unlikely. but i haven't got the foggiest as to what you're referring to in genesis... heavens and the earth is rather bleek.

You can find out how many planets we really have by reading Genesis.

For some reason, I just found that absolutely hilarious.

Ok, ok I'll be nice. Where to start. Ok... *Planet X was the name given to the tenth planet before there was one. It was just a term to use when referring to the possibility of there being a tenth planet. *Objects in our solar system with an orbit outside Pluto (and technically including Pluto and its moon Charon) are not asteroids but actually static comets. I'll make a little helper at the bottom of my post for this kind of stuff. *Sedna and Pluto are just big comets... you can call them planatoids if you want to discriminate. They are smaller than many of the moonsof the 8 true planets. The difference between them and the comets you see streaking across our sky is that their orbits are not nearly as eliptical... they are more round (like a planets) so they never come near the sun (so we cant see them and they don't have tails). However, they can be shaken into a more eccentric orbit and be sent (eventually) hurtalling toward the Sun (by say another passing star). *If there were an asteroid or comet heading for Earth, the news would be talking about it, and, I can assure you, I would have known. We did recently have a fairly large body pass quite close (within the orbit of the moon) but astronomers were able to tell ahead of time that it would miss us by a comfortable degree. *I really do like that you guys are talking about my favorite subject though Happy to answer more questions And it goes a lil sumthin like thisLe Chart: Sun-Mercury-Venus-Earth-Mars- Asteroid Belt-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus-Neptune- Kuiper Belt (Pluto and Sedna in here)- Oort CloudComets come from the Kuiper Belt and the Oort Cloud... the Oort cloud is (loosely) all encompassing and way far out there, even in comparison to the Kuiper Belt so long term comets that only come by once in a long while are from Oort where as the more familiar short term comets come from Kuiper.

The sheer fact that Joey has mentioned this dispells me of any idea of any asteroid ever hitting Earth in my lifetime.

Hah. I'm smart. Excuse that. I always think there is 8 planets... I don't count Pluto for some reason... You're studying that in science? Wish I was in your class, easy A. Physics sucks. -Sunset

quote: maybe a 9th or 10th planet.
There are already 9 planets. There is possibly a 10th though. Sedna. It is behind Pluto. It is 800 billion miles away from Earth, composed of ice and rock, never excedes -400 degrees F, Diameter is 1,000 miles, and if you were on Sedna it would only take a pin head to cover up the sun. Yep. We are studing it in Science.

Ah. I've heard about that. Didn't they say they think it's a newly discovered planet, not an asteroid? I guess that's when they first discovered it... You're talking about the asteroid that is located behind Pluto, right? I've also heard that they think there is more and maybe a 9th or 10th planet. Interesting. -Sunset

Further investigation of "Planet X" by amateur astronomers has revealed shocking evidence of life on other planets, or in this case, asteroids. One observatory that requested anonymity has released this shocking image that dispelled doubts even among the most diehard skeptics. Now, since I know this claim isn't particularly credible without any photographic evidence, so here's the photo...
