Figuratively speaking, I thinks it's possible. Maxno explained it best. Scientifically, it makes sense. You can't literally die of a broken heart, though, so maybe the question is, "Can you die from experiencing an abundance of emotional pain?"

It's true. My grandfather died from a broken heart. He was perfectly healthy, and then my grandmother left him for some richer guy. The next week he was in the hospital bleeding from the stomach. He died when they had pumped so much blood from his stomach that his body could not function. He could have moved to another city to get more help, but my grandmother convinced him not to. He died a week later. It could be a coincidence...but I don't think so.
I brought all this so you can survive when law is lawless, fearless, sensations that you thought was dead, no squealing, remember that ITS ALL IN YOUR HEAD.

Yes, in moments of extreme stress, such as intense sadness, adreniline in the body can become to much for some people and they die as a result.

it is true. If anyone has read "The Phantom of the Opera" by Gaston Leroux, you know that Erik, the Phantom, died three weeks after Christine abandoned him. You also know from the way the book is written, there is obviously quite a lot of truth to it. Leroux did his homework, and thus we have a pretty legitimate example of death by broken heart. ~Padfoot

Well, I've heard of elderly people, sometimes, when their spouse's die they die like a week or two later, for no reason at all. Some people believe it's because of a broken heart

Well, not just suicide exactly... people can die of apathy. You could call it suicide, but when someone just stops moving, eating, functioning at all, they just sit in bed until they starve.

It depends on (a) how much you truly loved the person...or think you loved them (b) how much you love yourself (c) how independent you are (d) how easily you become depressed But the only way you actually like physically die from it is if you commit suicide. The above list are some key factors than can lead to suicide (as relating to a broken heart).
