Social Groups:
1. Nowadays youths are catergorized into different groups such as emos, Goths, chavs and geeks. Are there any more which you could name?
Jocks, drama nerds, band geeks, everyone else
2. Do you think you fall into any of these categories and why?
Well, I was in band, so I guess you could call me a band geek. But other than that, I don't fall into a single group.
3. How do you feel about any of these categories? Who do you and don’t get on well with and why?
I think it's silly to divide into cliques. I get along with anyone who wants to get along with me.
4. Do you feel everyone should learn about different groups rather than have a divide?
Certainly.
5. Do you think there is a difference between girls and boys?
Well, of course. Physically and mentally. Socially, however, there doesn't need to be a difference.
6. Recently and girl was murdered because she was dressed as a Goth, do you think that is acceptable, would you say people should be more civilized these days?
That's about the stupidest thing I've ever heard. People shouldn't kill over something that trivial.
7. What do you think will happen in the future?
Probably the same stuff that goes on now.
Homosexuals:
1. Homosexuals are being accepted more than in the past, do you agree with this?
Certainly. People shouldn't be shunned because of their lifestyle choices.
2. How does it feel to be homosexual in the society today?
I couldn't say. I'm not gay and my gay friends don't really talk about that sort of thing.
3. Do you think religion acts as a boundary to those who keep their homosexuality a secret?
Definitely. Many religions frown upon homosexuality.
4. The word “gay” is used as an abuse; do you think it should be used less freely?
It's just a word. I don't even think gay people find it offensive.
Race
1. Could you tell me which country you originate from?
United States
2. Do you support any religious beliefs?
No, not really.
3. Do you feel your religion clashes with your social life living in England? Have you or are you tempted to break the rules?
If I did live in England, I don't think my lack of religion would be a problem, since England is hardly a bastion of religious belief.
4. In the town that you live in, how multicultural is it?
Not very much at all. Quite a lot of migrant workers from Mexico, but mostly white European-Americans.
5. Do you think it gets easier as you get older and why? Would you say younger people are more closed minded?
Easier...for what? It seems to me that people tend to hold into the beliefs they had when they were younger. To that end, I think youth are slightly more open-minded, but to a fault sometimes.
6. Are most of your friends from an english background and why?
Well, an American background. We're all of the same ethnic background.
7. Would you like more of your friends to be from other ethinic groups?
I'm good. I'm not going to force diversity.
8. Have you experienced or witnessed any racial abuse in the past? Would you like to give any details? Which racist words hurt you the most?
Nope, no abuse at all.
9. How do you feel about people who have?
Annoyed that there are still people out there who discriminate based on race.
10. The French president has been known to be racist (he called muslims and immigrant youths scum – which is racist in france) do you think it is bad for people with status to be racist and influence civilians?
People choose who influence them. If an important person wants to make a fool out of himself, that's his problem.
11. After the 9/11 and terrorist attacks would you say racism has become a lot worse?
Definitely towards Arabs. You can't kneel for prayer in an airport without causing mass panic.
12. Are there not enough supermarkets in your town providing foods from your country?
Plenty of markets and other places, but that's only good for people who can afford food.
The more you know, the less you don't know.
