If I am correct Buy Nothing Day, the annual day advocating a host of things from the environment, to animal rights, to economic change, is this Friday, the day after thanks giving.

It was started to try adn put a dent in rampant consumerism and materialism that breeds things like environmental waste, animal rights violations through cosmetic testing and clothing mateirals, and sweat shops and child labor. I'm sure I don't do it justice with my pithy comments. All the same. I encourage you to check out these links or do a search of your own and try to suspend the impulse to shop for one day.

That's the knock I have against it. I don't shop then anyway, and I think most people who would have heard of it don't either. There needs to be a more effective way of showing the people who will shop that it's better not to.
Any sane person should know buying online is easier, often cheaper, and you get all teh benefits of home.

I stayed home and bought nothing, and I didn't even know there was such a day! Eh, the stores are way too crowded on the Friday after Thanksgiving. People arriving before 6 am... it's insane! Plus it was raining, so... ;P
