I still have my first technical job as a pool attendent, since I don't count haying or babysitting as real jobs. It's an ok job. It's ok, gotten worse this year, but still able ot tolerate it and junk. I teach kids how to swim, watch for storms and clean the pool deck. It's still an ok job, cept all the rules the state adds every year. Screaming and hysterical kids are always fun....*sarcasm* But it's an OK job.
Hope for the best and expect the worst............take whatever life throws at you...

My first real job was a shop helper at a machine shop. It was great, my boss always had beer, usualy 3 kegs in the fridge. Nothing like getting paid to drink your bosses beer on the job.
I love getting new jobs. After working a job for more than a couple weeks i get borred.

My first job was at Martin's Food Stores, I was a cart boy. Then I worked at Burger King, then for the school board as a plant facilities worker, then Big Lots as a stocker (heh, stalker), then Wal-Mart as a Sporting Goods Associate, and now at Weitron as a Head Lab Technician. Getting new jobs are a pain in the ***. Good luck.
I like these calm little moments before the storm.

Right now i am working and this is my second job. The first job i was at was a diner and me and the other girls working there were totally different. They were so mad when i got something wrong or asked them for help. This job is alittle easier. There is not so much of people not liking other people.Right now there is one girl and me who don't get along. Its a little. I asked if my shifts would be changed and they did that for me.

Okay... Like Euterpe said, first jobs are always hard. I should know... i'm still working mine and for sure it's not the best thing I could be doing. I get less than I should be earning for the work I do and I'm not given enough hours to really do anything. But I stick with it... because it's my dad's business. So, you see. But my advice is this: Don't be afraid to say that you don't know what you're doing, because if you don't say you don't know, how will you ever learn how? If you are afraid to ask because you think they'll fire you, learn to watch people who are doing the same thing and they'll show you how without even knowing it. Also, find something you don't hate (which is easier than finding something you love) because if you hate your job, you'll never be able to do it with your whole heart. GOOD LUCK!!!

quote: Now, I'm starting a job at a big-box retailer in the mall. I'm hoping this won't be the same thing, but I'm still really nervous.
Sounds like my first job...which I start on Friday. I'm working at the Hot Topic at my mall. And some good aspects I know about it so far are a 40% discount even on sale merchandise, absolutely no dress code, and the store manager is really nice and easy to get along with. But I still don't have any actual experience to share with you yet. quote: First jobs are always difficult. Because you're torn between trying to impress and admitting you're not sure what you're doing. They should have trained you.
When I started volunteering at the library, they didn't give me a tour or anything which I was fine with at first (because I go there a lot and figured I knew where to shelve everything anyway) but then, when someone finally did give me a tour, I figured out I had put a lot of stuff in wrong places. After a week though, I figured it out. Now I have learned to ask questions. Any time I don't know where to shelve something or understand what they are asking of me, I just clarify. I intend to do this with my real job as well.

First jobs are always difficult. Because you're torn between trying to impress and admitting you're not sure what you're doing. They should have trained you. My job now is a lot less stressful than my first. Also, I'm older with a little experience under my belt. If you enjoy your next job a little more, dollars for doughnuts you'll do better at it. Good luck!
