To start, I have not posted on the MB in months. But I felt the compulsion to do so after reading a post about Katrina.
I myself am from New Orleans, and have lived there all my life. I was seven days into my junior year at Franklin HS. I left the day before the huricane hit, not expecting it to be so bad. But found myself awoken on Sunday being told to get up and pack some clothes, we were leaving.
I now find myself in California. And I think I am better out here. Moving out here was the second start, second chance, I had been wishing for throughout high school. Sure my life got turned upside down in the process, but it is a fresh start. I left with three days of clothes, my laptop (it has all my pictures and many memories), some textbooks, wallet, backpack, and phone. Thats pretty fresh.
I came out here with the advantage of two friends in the area and my aunt and uncle. I came out here less than a month ago and I already know hundreds of faces.
I do not consider myself a 'victim.' My house may of had six feet of water in it, but it's just a house. I am fortunate enough to be living in sunny California with my relatives and that my dad still has a job.
That is NOT to say that other people are not victims. There are many people out there that are dealing with a lot to come. I encourage you to go out there and do somthing for those that are in need most.

I live in Fresno. The only reason why people dont want to come here is the bad air, the murder/rape rate, and the car theft. (All top 5 in the nation) The crime and stuff has gone down a lot. It really isnt as bad as I make it sound, we dont get hit by earthquakes (unless they're really bad) and it doesnt flood, at least it hasnt in a long time. I rather live here than back east. -Sunset

Palo Alto. There's supposedly one other kid in the area....but I haven't heard anything about him. There's only 500 teens in California....I've only heard of 5....so it's intresting...

What town in CA did you move to? People refuse to come to my town. Even though we can take 400 refuges. I think only 2 families moved here. I'm sorry for your loss, take care. CA isnt so bad. -Sunset

Wow man. You haven't posted in a while. I remember talking to you on aim quite a bit, you were a pretty cool guy. Anyway...glad things turned out well for you.

Thanks for sharing that with us, regah. It's putting a sweet touch on Katrina, and rallying us to help, without bashing every government official on earth. Very sweet.
Just because nobody understands you, that doesn't mean you're artistic.

O of where dost thou hail, Celephanil, Celephanil? Why dost thou wander in Tengelwar great, why on the sea do you sail?
