my hero is Brian Deneke. he was a 19 year old punk, who was beaten up with bats and run over with a prep's caddilac in 1997.
he was murdered for being a punk. the boy who murdered him was a prep who was well liked (of course, he's a prep) so his punishment wasn't as severe as it should have been. so basically Brian's death went unavenged.

I and all my friends keep him in our memory as an example of what we fight for. to encourage tolerance and respect for different lifestyles, to discourage violence when we can, to see that justice is done without baseball bats, and to see that murderers that deserve to rot in a jail cell, stay in a jail cell.

i have a lot of heros in my life, not neccasarily becaue they have had something bad happen and they got through it, a lot of my heros are just good examples, good friends and good family, each one of my family members is an example for me and i try to let them know that it seems to help but sometimes it just makes them cry, lol.

my mother thogh she has a story worth metioning she is my hero for many reasons but this is just one.

my dad died when i was nine and my mother hadnt worked for thirteen years (since they were first married) and she was just out of collage, but she never let that stop her she has providid for myself and my older brother and younger sister.she is my hero in showing me that you dont have to depend on a man to support you.

I have two major heros.

My first is my brother Jason who passed away 5 years ago. He never let anything keep him down, he helped so many people and he was amazing to be around. He loved, laughed, and he loved God. He's everything i wanna be.

My second hero is Adam Phillippi. He was my youth pastor until he passed away earlier this year. He loved God with everything in him, he never let go of what he believed in and whoever saw him was impacted.

These two changed my life.

No one I know personally. Not to be cliche and pick a celebrity but I'd have to say my favorite singer Layne Staley. Hes probably not a very good role model because he had a lot of bad habits. But he was a brilliant songwriter, musician and an amazing singer. His music really moves me and has had a major effect on my life. I dont really aspire to be a singer like he was but to have the kind of effect hes had on me is something i really admire.

My mentor, who was my nurse. She taught me how to love myself. She change my outlook on life. She showed me what was beautiful in the world because I couldn't see it. She taught me how to change and be confortable with that. She was able to teach me all this because she had to learn it at one point to. I wouldn't be who I am today without her.

My mom. We're not even that close, and I don't feel comfortable telling her about my life or the things that really worry me, but she is the best person I've ever known. She manages to be kind, but strong, and she's just so logical and only acts according to her convictions. A lot of people have almost adopted her as their own honorary mother because she gives good advice and is completely supportive. I'm lucky to have her, and I would be lucky to end up half the woman she is.

I guess I would have to say..(though he would not approve of hero status)..for me would be Nikki Sixx..his understanding of the need for programs geared around runaways..and addictions..is a familiar one for him.
As he was both..a runaway..and an addict. He has overcome..many obstacles in his life..and is trying to give back..to society..making amends so to speak..
He launched "Running Wild In The Night" as a fundraising initiative for Covenant House..which assists homeless and troubled youth get off the streets..This initiative will help with creative opportunites for the residents by providing instruments and musical instruction for the kids..as well as studio knowledge..Something that Nikki believes saved him from the streets..it was his music that provided him with the courage to get off the streets and fight for his dream..
Covenant House offers other initiatives as well to help youth at risk..but they feel the new programming will assist some kids who have the talent and the will to succeed in this industry..

Bethany Owens

She was one of the first women doctors. She had her practices in the early frontier (The West). She never stopped enjoying learning. She put up with a lot of crap from male doctors.

My hero is my best friend Anna. She is my hero because she is extremely strong, and she never doubts that she can do something. She has a lot of love and compassion for people and animals alike. She is an amazing person because she knows she's not perfect, and yet she doesn't try to be. Anna has a light in her that I have yet to see in another girl her age.

My heroes are my father who has worked hard all of his life for his family, and my brother who was killed in Iraq April 9, 2007. The most wonderful brother you'd ever meet.

my hero is a guy named Peter.
He saved my life (physically and metaphysically) and i never got the chance to tell him that or to thank him.
So, thank you Peter. You're the reason why I still exist.

My hero is my dad, the reason why i say that is because he took me out of a life that was no good for mw i was taking care my two sisters, we barely got to eat and if we did it was sugarbiscuts and hotdogs, we didn't have water we were just basically living off of other people and my mom got with this guy that done drugs really bad so she ended up getting into them to so they were making the drugs in the house and they started getting in trouble and ended up gooing to jail over it and my dad camae into the picture after 13 years becasue he knew that he would get me and he did so one of my sisters went with our uncle, the other went with her dad and went with my dad with a great stepmom, two sisters and a brother! See everything works out i mean i am not completly happy but it is better than that life!

I have a few heroes--

My Chemical Romance- they have made through a lot, especially Gerard Way, their lead singer, who used to be a drug addict and depressed.

Muhammad Ali- stood up for his beliefs and was the best for what he did

Look who is talking.

After reading the original post the only thing I now hope for is to be someone's hero if I am ever murdered.
