I love Silverstein. A few years ago, I was at the library and overheard the librarians talking about Silverstein's death the night before. It makes me sad when intellectuals die.

Isn't this thread about Tupac?

Keep things civil. No need to get rowdy. I like peaceful arguments where everyone can get their points across without being attacked. You haven't given me reason to be annoyed at you...yet. Let's keep it that way.

Why don't you learn about cultures as a whole before you say anything at all? You are only looking at its current state and certain parts of the situation. I am basing my opinions on the history and long-term effects of similar counter-cultures.

I don't care to know more about it. To me, a group that induces violence and bad english is worthless and deserves to die out.

Hardly. I am being realistic. Counter-cultures such as the hippies of the 60s or the beatniks or the 50s never lasted long. The "gansta" lifestyle is only another counter-culture of the 20th century.

the "Gangsta" lifestyle is much more that, its much more then hip hop and rap.

Why of course. There's much more to it. Add in violence, sex, drugs, uneducated thugs, and bad fashions.

The "gansta" lifestyle is merely a fad, fueled by current hip hop artists who choose to advertise this life to gain fans.

it's not "gangsta" poetry
it maybe poems from people that are "gangsta" or are considered "gangsta"
but i do read more then just that

and people here say I'm Immature

ooh and one more thing, even if they are gangsta they dont write about being gangsta
its just like other poems
about love, death, life, and suicide, you name it, they write about it. not about they're life style

Listen, you're wasting your time - mainly because your topic doesn't appeal to the Youthnoise audience. Not many of us here are into the street scene.

Well you came to YouthNoise trying to convince everyone that Tupac is the greatest poet/songwriter of all time when the majority of us don't even like Tupac or his music or his poetry. I know the media made him look like some ganster off the streets and I don't completely believe that, but that's not going to make me like him. You want some great poetry?

Edgar Allen Poe
William Shakespeare
Langston Hughes
Dante Aligheiri
Maya Angelou
Emily Dickenson
Homer
Virgil

Pick up a book on poetry and read it thoroughly. Now stop it.
