Firstly, I'm well aware that you used "retard" as a defense mechanism and for added effect. For your information, I am not a retard in any sense of the word. You don't know me and based on the posts I have made, there is no way you could ever consider me a "retard." Thanks for providing a great example of the entire point of my original post. Since I didn't clarify anything for you, then please ask me a direct question. Obviously I do not understand your argument against my post and I do not know what you need clarification on to see that my post is accurate. If you want clarification, you must present a valid question. But, in all honesty, I doubt I will take any of your further posts or arguments very seriously in the future. You have totally lost your credibility with the snide/sarcastic comments and incessant name-calling that I absolutely despise.

Must I clarify everything for you, Jookly? Hobbies for most people consist of things such as reading, writing, listening to music, etc. General things that people like to do. Obviously, you probably wouldn't want to hang out with someone whose hobby is chopping up people to bits. But, in a general sense, you can't really judge people by their hobbies. If I read and you don't like to read, that doesn't mean I'm a horrible person that you should never hang out with. It just means that we don't share a hobby. Do you understand what I meant now? And if that was the only thing you found wrong with my post then obviously I'm not a fool. And name-calling will never get you anywhere. Ever. With anyone.

How aboutwe all sit around and listen to Under Pressure by Bowie and Queen, then we can truelly ask ourselves what the true meaning of that song is. Also we could truely meditate on how music could have turned out if Bowie had married mercury, think about it...

I agreed w/ ya til the last paragraph...you had me rootin for ya til you were hypocritical.
I am always stereotyped b/c I am blonde and I usually don't mind people's comments b/c yes, like most blondes do, I have my moments but people tend to over-do it sometimes. They assume blondes are dumb all the time, 24/7, and that every moment is a blonde moment. NOT TRUE...I am slow on jokes and sometimes I have to stop and think about things people say to understand but for the most part I am intelligent.

I think that a lot of the time, you can base your opinion of someone on their age. Not all of the time, but a lot of the time. At least, I can, with the people that I know.

Stereotypes are common. And they are never going to go away. If you walk into a room, you're immediately going to think something about each person in that room just based solely on their looks, whether that thought is true or not.
Here's where you can make a difference: Don't automatically assume that the thought that's running through your mind is true. You can't stop the thoughts from coming, but don't assume that it's true and don't let it stop you from talking to the person. Talk to the people, get to know them and base your opinion of them on their personality. It's as simple as that. You can't stop yourself from automatically thinking about those stereotypes but you can stop yourself from assuming that they are true. Every time I meet someone, I gurantee that I probably think something about them based on the way they look or carry themself. That thought may or may not be true---I don't know. But I never assume it's true. I talk to the person, get to know them, etc. and then I'll find out what I need to know as to whether or not this is a person I want to be around.
Here's a list of factors that you can NEVER base your opinion of someone on:
*Race *Ethnicity (and the two ARE different) *Sexual Orientation *Mental Ability/Disability *Physical Ability/Disability *Hobbies *Age *Gender *Name *Grade *Social Status (in high-school, that would be "prep" "nerd" "freak" etc.) *Economic Status
Those are just a few of the things that you CAN'T base your opinion of someone on. If you do, you're never going to get anywhere or have any friends. And it'll just spread hate and negativity.
Basically, think and learn and understand before you assume. Because we all know what happens when you assume.....

*Stereotypes involve generalizations about the "typical" characteristics of members of the groups... *Prejudice involves attitude toward the members of some group based solely on their membership in that group (can be positive or negative)... *Discrimination is the actual positive or negative actions toward the objects of prejudice... 1. Everybody stereotypes people. Nobody can say that they don't. It's unfortunately just human nature. 2. You can do your best in trying not to stereotype people by getting to know people and who they are as a person before you judge them. 3. All three of those things are linked, although it may not seem like it. One of them can lead to another quite easily.
In other words...it's not ok to stereotype, but we do. And just try and get to know a person before you make accusations about them that can backfire and hurt them.

Marlon Wayans (the stupid one...I think that's Marlon): "You know, to play my character I did have to research the role a bit, and I did hang out around a certain group of white girls, and you know what I learned...all of the stereotypes of white people are true!"
