My school is grades 6-8 and we had a little over 1,000. We have 1 other school that has 6th and then it feeds into ours. And then we have 3 other junior highs with 6-8. But ours has the heaviest population. And each of our classrooms has at least 30 kids in it. And all of our teachers don't have rooms. They just go into a teacher's room who is on planning period. so our school is just weird either way. LOL.

My school has a population of about 2000 not including the faculty for three grades,10th,11th and 12th. We have 2 highschools (including mine) in our district. I never really thought our school was over populated but i guess it is compared to most of yals posts. I mean theres more than enough text books and locker and desks for each student but it dose get a bit crowded in the hallways. I dunno, i'd say there is about a 30:1 ration for students to teachers but mine is a public school so what do you expect?

My friend is a senior at one of the major high schools in my area, and it may go on to 3000 students. Most high schools where I live have well over 1500 students. Freakishly enough, I go to a public school with only 400 kids in it because it's a *charter school and is harder to get it.
*A charter school is basically like a private school but is funded by the city/town you live in. The school has a very close student-teacher-parent thing, and the education is excellent. On average my classes had 20 or less kids in them. The one problem with the charter school is that it's underfunded compared to normal schools (we have tons of desks from the early 50s...lol) and it can be hard to get decent supplies at times.

my school is 2000 students in 4 grades. schools vary around here. private schools usually have 500-200 kids per grade. public schools depend on the size of the school district, and are usually 250-800 kids a grade.
it's not too terrible being a statistic at my school. people are less likely to bug me. and yet at the same time, it does suck. but i'll stop yakking.

My city is INSANE! Thee are 3 high schools, the largest hosts 2,000 students, and the 2 that are the same size (and a lot smaller than the largest...) have 1,500 and 2,500. What school do I go to you may ask...duh! The one where there are students oozing out of it because it is WAY too small. And because of the fact that my school just spent like hundreds of thousands on a new athletic complex, they had to lay off teachers and we should expect class sizes of 40 students...fun stuff, eh?

My school is absolutly too large! we have 2400 students in four different grades and we are going to have to add on AGAIN because next year we will be over maximum capacity which is 2500. The community won't build another high school because they don't want to have to have two different sports teams and bring down our standings at compitions because we wouldn't have all the good players on one team. Talk about worshiping athletics! Also, we have like no money because they spend it on sports teams plus we are one of the worsts paid schools in the state but it is ironic because it is also one of the welthiest communities. It is sad because they won't risk giving up their #1 spot in the conference, but they have no problem cutting back on budgets, in order to get more computers they have to make people pay 10 cents whenever they print a piece of paper off the computer now. it is sad that the administration cares more about whether the sports teams do good then whether the student body is too large.

The majority of schools in my area are huge. They mostly have about 1,000-2,000 students. My school however was very small. I went to a magnet school (I graduated last year) which just started my first year there. I was there from 8-12 grades. It's very small, 5-12 grade with 600 total students. Only about 200 in high school. My smallest class had 8 students, my largest had 20. It was really great. I had personal relationships with most of my teachers. There was a lot of personal interaction with teachers and students. Also, there was an extremely small drop out rate in my school. In my four years in high school, only one student dropped out. Everyone that I know at my school loves it. Each school size has pros and cons, but a small school was right for me.
