I mean seriously if they like/love each other and they are both willinmg then wtf?

But uhh it's not EXACTLY for me, but, uhh...Why do they call it "RAPE" if both are willing?

YOU CAN'T RAPE THE WILLING DEAREST!!

Hm. If you were to date an over-age guy/girl, what would it matter? Why are the police wasting their time when they could be finding other people, like drug abusers, or illigal aliens, by looking for people that just love each other and want to be together?

Well, I just don't think it's roght for the government to judge whether a couple gets to be together or not. It's just NOT RIGHTT!

Wow..uhh..EG ranting and raving, in a weird way, kind of does do something. It keeps them occupied. Thats really it. Dosent change the world. End world hunger. Find a cure for cancer or what not. It basically keeps teens from being bored. And i guess somehow "blow off some steam". Yea...thats it...really. And the age thing. No comment. Cause dating w/e if its illigall get caught go to jail or whatever happens basically all that jazz. Just count me out really.

Well, here's why! When you're thirty and not married or with someone, there's a damn good reason. So do you want to discover that reason after you sleep with them or before? 30 year olds are in such a different place mentally, remember that before you do something very very stupid, whoever you are.

I know I dont get it myself, I mean I get if the person is 30 and the other is like 14 thats sick. I get if the one is like 16 and the other is 18, thats just 2 years no big deal, but like 4+ years is gross. So I agree to a limit and disagree to a limit.

But I still don't know exactly what a 30 year old would want with a teenager. Besides, if it's love, it would really show that their relationship matters to them if they hold off and doing anything like intercourse until both are of an age that everyone-- parents, the law, etc-- can agree that they both have the ability to make informed choices.

My sentiments exactly.

It may be the other way around, why would a teenager want to get involved with a 30 year old? And I'm asking this question seriously, I have reasons to consider it myself.

Well, I think some of it may depend on the age of the teenager. If it's a younger teenager, I have no idea.

Older teenager, they may think it is love and be looking for someone with a stable income or something. But at the same time, it may not be the best idea.

I split the teenage years up because I was also kind of thinking about brain development and how it's different in younger and older teenagers. I honestly think the brain development is one reason for the age of consent laws because many teens have a past of reckless decisions during these years.

In the middle.

This might sound weird but the age difference between the oldest and the youngest person I've had intercourse with is 9 years.

I don't think age should be a factor to consider as long as the difference isn't to extreme and the two people involved show their mutual consent.

that's exactly how I feel about it. Very good point!

I am 16 years old and I am dating a 20 year old. We have been dating for a little over a year and we are so in love. A few times his mom and I got in to a fight over stupid stuff and she went to the cops to try to get us in trouble for dating but since she was the parent of the older person the cops couldn't do anything about it. Now if it was my parents we would have probably gotten into lots of trouble, thank god my parents are ok with us dating. And his mom is fine with it too, I just have to stay on her good side. lol.

In the human brain, The Frontal Lobes are usually the last parts of the brain to mature and develop. The Frontal Lobes are the part of the brain that control impulsive actions, judgement, sexual behavior, and problem solving. The maturing process doesn't complete until their early adult years.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frontal_lobe

This is why teens act the way they do and think they are right about everything, while adults are wrong and don't know what they're talking about. I'm so glad I'm past that phase.

Isn't there even a psychological or physiological reason that teens make the decisions they do?

Teenagers can make decisions. But they usually don't make good ones. The government is made up of a bunch of old dudes that were once young and stupid. And that have far more life experience than both of us combined. And, again, until you're 18, you have very few rights. The government, your parents, and everyone else can dictate your "life" as they please within reason. When you're 16, bitching and moaning about the government trying to control what teenagers do, is not only stupid, it's annoying and nobody wants to hear it. So, knock it off, pour yourself a glass of lemonade, study U.S. Laws and learn some common sense.

When I was 16 i dated a guy who was 21 for a few months. Part of the reason we broke up was because he was afraid he'd go to jail. The age thing didn't matter to us, but it still affected our relationship. It isn't right that the government can decide other people's lives for them, but the government's just a reflection of our society. People don't want to think that teens can make their own decisions.
