The worst part about the whole statutory rape is that even if the minor did consent to it, the parents can still (and alot of times do) file for rape. Its a vicious cycle. Now it doesnt bother me if say a 23 year old is dating an 18 year old. No big deal. Its when a 25 year old decides to try and date a 14 or 15 year old, I dont know that just bugs the shit out me. I think it's mostly to prevent child molesters from claiming it was consensual. I suppose it's technically illegal to have sex with a 20-year-old while you're 18, but I don't think anyone's really going to have a problem with that. Unless you live in a place where fornication (that is, non-married sex) is illegal. Then they'd probably try you on it if only to make an example out of you. People can be pretty spiteful like that.
