quote: why do men do this ?
Not ALL men do it. I hate how people like you generalize about a particular race, gender, religion, etc. because of what a few individuals did. Stop putting people in groups and think of them as individuals instead. So your brother, in the most base terms, is an abusive a$shole. Consider the factors - 1. How did he become an abusive as$hole> 2. Who and what influences him to act this way? 3. Is it an emotional or psychological issue? 4. Did he see his mother abused as a child? 5. etc.

I agree with you, it isn't right for guys to treat their girlfriends badly. Unfortunately it seems to happen a lot. I told my best friend's disgusting loser ex-boyfriend that if he ever did another thing to hurt her he would answer to me and he knew I meant it.I can't tell you exactly why some guys do this because they are all different, but I think in many cases it is to be in control and to feel better about themselves by making someone else feel worse. A man who needs to do that is not a man to me.
