i have been experiencing heartbreaks as a result of online dating. is it true one cannot have a successful reletionship online?

Probably not. You will never know who the person really is, For all you know, they could be lieing. My cousin has a online relationship, and she lies to her alot. it's ver obvious, Personally, I dont think it could work, You'd need to see each other, and exerince real life things, not things over the internet. But you could still be friends.

Seriously though, Stars, if a thread has been buried for a year you have to be careful about reviving them unless you have something earth shattering to say. Especially personal help ones, seeing as ususally the original poster will be long gone. That being said, in this case I think you were justified, just please don't do like some people and revive a two year old thread just to say "abortion sucks" or something along those oh so illuminating lines. You will get yelled at, trust me. :-)

Pretty much this. Meeting someone online can work, but in my experience only if you can actually see them pretty often in person. The internet is nice and all, but *kisses u <3* doesn't quite stack up to the real thing.

I have a lot of online friends, and I love them, but online boyfriends/girlfriends? I personally couldn't do it.

It may seem ok at first, but in the end, I've seen how they end, my friend's end up with broken hearts everytime. You never see this person, there's no chance of it when you're just young! While you're young, explore the world, make friends, see as much as you can. My cousin met his fiance on facebook, but he's 25. He was able to get a flight to the city she lived in to meet him. If you're capable of meeting someone you're dating online, go for it! :] If not, it's not worth your time.

i don't believe so if its strictly online.

i think the most reasonable suggestion here is that online dates work for some people but doesn't for some. so i'd better join the train of people who think it doesnt really work,and if it does,then all well and good.

I don't think internet dating is really fair to either person.

When it comes down to it, you need someone who can physically be there for you.

I've heard of some that went well and some that went miraculously wrong. But at a young age I would say no, it's practically impossible to have a successful online relationship. When it comes to dating, internet should be your last resort.

Wow good influence. Just becuase your life sucks DOES NOT mean you can go around crushing other peoples dreams and hopes all because yours are ruined. I mean get a therapist. Acctually no get a life. And for you voycez true love is possible. It's just the people you gotta find. Don't listen to her she only wants to make fun of you and bring you down so just ignore her. Maybe you shouldn't do online dating, try something new ya know. It is possible maybe not for her.

One can not have a successful relationship, period.
