According to the Office of Personnel Management (The Federal Government's Human Resources Agency) ( http://www.opm.gov), Christmas is a Federal Holiday. The reason, it states, is that it will be treated as a holiday for pay and leave purposes. For a "religiously free" country, what do you think about us having a Christian holiday, being a federal holiday? And, why doesn't the federal government have federal holidays for Kwaanza, Hanukkah, Bodhi Day, Birth of Baha'u'llah, Confucius Birthday, etc.??

Most people are given tons of vacation days and sick days. Yes, I guess it's unfair that select few would have to use them for their religious holiday. But it would equally (if not more so) be unfair to take away a fed. holiday that the majority of the workers celebrate (Christian or not).

Christmas is the same exact day every single year. Some of the others you named move around.

Right. I see where you're coming from, and personally I just think we should just get a few days off for major religious holidays. My family celebrates Christmas and we're not Christian. Several of my friends' families who are either agnostic or more than one religion celebrate Christmas.

Because the majority of the people living in the United States are Christian And because many non-Christians also celebrate Christmas.
