My teacher brought up the subject as we were discussing some related news in our nursing subject. She told us, that in her opinion, America has always been the giant. The giant and powerful country of all countries. All the technologies, the gadgets, the wonderful lifestyle, money and just about everything one can dream of. But why was it that they have not been able to anticipate the bombings of WTC? Couldnt they tell that Iraq or some other country hold a grudge against them? I am not saying that i have a grudge about America, in fact i love to go to the USA in the future. But how come, many countries were led to believe that America is as giant and powerful as they seem to be when they have been bombed without warning and made them all so vulnerable. My teacher told us, is it perhaps, Americas's wake-up call? The Sept. 11 incident made the Americans weep, made them depressed and vulnerable. It just made me think, how come with all your high tech stuff, why weren't they able to anticipate? Does this mean Iraq is more Intelligent than the USA? "Iraq is much more intelligent than the US, for they just ram those planes onto the building without any complex plan on how to terrorize the people. They just rammed those planes and killed thousands." my teacher jokingly said. I think the world is crumbling down. It is not only that Spet.11 incident but hundreds of cruelty could be heard and seen in the news and i just wonder when will this ever end? Have people all gone insane? Was this God's way of punishing us? Are these all wake up calls, little reminders for us that God is angry? What do you all think?

No, it does not mean that Iraq has more intelligence in a technical sense than the US. Just because this country is a highly-advanced society doesn't mean we are the gods of the universe who subconsciously know every person who wishes us ill, or even that our technical things will advance us to that point. We are not a perfect nation, and most likely could not have anticipated the events of September 11th unless we had snipers outside the little huts in Iraq where the planning for it was occurring. quote: "Iraq is much more intelligent than the US, for they just ram those planes onto the building without any complex plan on how to terrorize the people. They just rammed those planes and killed thousands." my teacher jokingly said.
Well, sorry to break it to you, but your teacher's an idiot who obviously didn't do his/her research enough on the events of September 11th to talk about it like he/she knew. The plans for the September 11th attacks were going on for over three years--, and I saved articles from the days and weeks after September 11th to prove it. *sarcastically* I would have to call that a "complex plan." Those terrorists were extremist idiots, driven by seething hatred for every American, who have no greater way to attack us but steal our own planes and ram them into our own buildings; killing men, women, and many children in the daycare centers of the buildings. Like Ann Coulter said in Slander (making a slam on the extremists' intelligence): "--if they were more intelligent, they'd have indoor plumbing by now." quote: Was this God's way of punishing us? Are these all wake up calls, little reminders for us that God is angry?
I don't think it has anything to do with religion or God. This world is imperfect, and as long as hate remains in the heart's of those like the September 11th terrorists who willingly gave up their own lives to destroy the lives and families of thousands of others, our world will continue to be washed in bloodshed of those who are undeserving. World peace is nothing but a philosophical dream. And besides that, take the quote from Forrest Gump: "Sh!t happens." That pretty much sums it up for me. There's no good reason that the events of September 11th happened; they just did, and it's horrible, and we have to keep going.

how could any of us have known that those people would do something so horrible and cruel as to crash their plan into the trade towers where they knew that thousands and thousands of women, men and even children were! how could anyone comprehend such cruelty? we are now trying to fight those people to stop more deaths and avenge the deaths of those that died on September 11. should we stop fighting? should we just give them another chance? some people think so. but if we just let people like that think that they have gotten the better of us then why would they not do it again? they certanly don't care about any lives, not even their own.

Ermmm... I don't think so. 9/11 in my opinion was just a climax of a series of events. In a way it did get people to realise that we should take other signals more seriously. Otherwise, it was only a trigger that led to war. Yes America has a whole bunch of technology and money. It does not mean that it is distributed fairly and where it should be. In fact msot countries hate the U.S. When 9/11 occurred, there was almost universal cheering. Many people have always hated the U.S. and so its not some new found revelation.

Has always is fairly vague, seeing how the United States is very young in comparison to Great Britain, France, etc. quote: It just made me think, how come with all your high tech stuff, why weren't they able to anticipate? Does this mean Iraq is more Intelligent than the USA?
We apparently had multiple warnings prior to September 11th; the American people were simply not made aware of it. Iraq was and is only a minute part of the problem, as well as the problem we encountered directly in September. It wasn't simply Iraqi terrorists who attacked us, jamaica: it was a group of terrorist-organizations from all over the world. Terrorism truly is a cancer upon society. Terrorist cells rooted in Canada, France, and throughout the world make this war much broader than we originally anticipated. God is not angry with us, but if that makes you feel better, go on and believe that. The world is battling terrorism as a whole, and America is supposedly doing all it can to protect itself and its allies. An attack was imminent, but what really upsets many Americans is the fact that the Saudis knew about the attacks before we did. We can thank the Bush - and partially the Clinton administrations for that. FYI: You need a new teacher.

I live in the USA and I think it September 11 was a sort of a wake up call. It caused many more people to be grateful for what tehy have and for us to work together more. I think most of us take for granted what we have and all our freedoms. We sue and create lawsuits about the most frivolous things and we complain our rights are being violated. (This mostly applies to those that are born here more than those who immigrate here later.) Just because America is powerful and stuff doesn't make us invincible, as most apparently thought we were. And there's been talk that the CIA and stuff did know something about it...which is rather worrysome... I dont knwo if that was relevant or made sense...i jsut kidn of rambled a bit..let me know what you think Karen
