I kid you not. The following statement was made by Bushsupporter:

the star spangled banner was an old drinking song for a looong time and Robert Ripley nominated it as the national anthem and it became the national anthem in 1931.
such useless information but nevertheless, knowlege.

The star spangled bannner was written in 1814, it became the official national anthem in 1931. The star spangled banner was originally written as a poem too, not an anthem.
