US Senate candidate Tom Coburn - a Republican from Oklahoma - made some very politically incorrect remarks recently about how schools are being "infected" by the wave of lesbianism.
In all honesty, let's face it: the trend these days is to be "bisexual" and "lesbian" or whatever. It's true. Anyone reading this Xanga knows damn good and well that it's true, regardless if much of what Coburn said wasn't 100 percent factual:
"lesbianism is so rampant in some of the schools in southeast Oklahoma that they'll only let one girl go to the bathroom. Now think about it. Think about that issue. How is it that that's happened to us?"
Now, being a non-perfect-by-any-means Christian with bisexual and homosexual friends, I'm not going to point fingers and judge, nor will I agree with all of what Coburn said. I will say I disagree with the lifestyle choice - God will be the ultimate judge, but still, can we all just stop the bull****?
The fact is, thousands upon thousands of American girls - and even foreigners - are embracing this trend to be bisexual and "gay." Someone tell me I'm full of crap. Go ahead. Say it.
All of you who deny this are ignorant, but it doesn't do us any good to deride this senate candidate for making off-the-cuff remarks. Seriously, no matter how lame-brained this guy is in saying all of what he said, he opened up a perfect chance for people to discuss this.
Society nowdays just says well, whatever feels good do it. Your interpretation of how you live your life is up to you - purely individual, which I respect, but Coburn was right...there's rampant lesbianism (Joey: and bisexuality) going around because that's the trendy thing to do or be.
I think that lesbianism and homosexuality is growing simply because it was already there only now media puts in a better light. For example Will and Grace or Ellen.
I personally think that many people have bisexual thoughts only some can't believe they just thought something like that because they were taught that it was a sin and dirty and others are just getting the nerve to act on it because it seems more acceptable.
I still don't care what anyone's sexual preference is. If your bi, gay, lesbian, or like to kiss goats (I hope nobody I know does, but hey... whatever floats your boat ) it really effects nobody else and I hate it that people think they have a say in someone else sexual life style.
I've kissed a girl before and it was way before everyone was doing it. No, I'm not lesbian, but it was just something to experience.
1-We are all born originals - why is it so many of us die copies? 2- Life is tough... it's tougher if you're stupid.
its funny how people feel the have to "accept" lesbians. A famous poet (whose name I don't remember at the moment) said there is no difference between toleration and condemnation, condemnation being the pope with fire and ******, and the pope selling indulgences. For in both cases, the pope thinks he was in the right to judge others. It is also interesting, in Greek times, homosexuality was encouraged, as long as it did not interfere with procreation...Food for thought.
O of where dost thou hail, Celephanil, Celephanil? Why dost thou wander in Tengelwar great, why on the sea do you sail?

I hate them. I once bought a few. I tried them for a few days, but hated them so much I grabbed my scissors and broke them and threw them in the trash. I have no pantylines, nor wedgies, because I do not wear underwear. Unles I am in a skirt, then i wear underwear (duh) and they're not thongs.

People are agreeing with JoeyD! It truly is a milestone! They are discussing the view presented instead of (the majority) attacking him for saying something! Sorry, off topic, but it occurred to me that only one person was trying to attack him. It's great, I think! For both sides of this issue.
Nah. Lesbianism is not a trend. I know very few people who would actual even admit that they were lesbians if they were a lesbian. Society's slowly just getting more comfortable with lesbianism and so more people are coming out. That doesn't mean that girls are doing it to be hip/cool/crunk.
quote: Like thongs. They are so damn uncofortable, but girls wear them usually because they're sexier than granny panties.

I agree in a way with Joey. Let's face it, girls are being "bisexual" now more (more, I didin't say all lesbians/bisexuals are faking it) because it's "sexy". Like thongs. They are so damn uncofortable, but girls wear them usually because they're sexier than granny panties.
But, I also agree with Aguagon, in the sense that these days, our generation is much more accepting of people's sexuality.
I personally, would never kiss a girl for a man (a la Eliminidate), but I think in truth all humans are bisexual.

Surely MTV is to blame. I don't know about the rest of you, but ever since I watched Brittany and Madonna kiss, kissing another guy is all I can think about! It's like, my natural sexual preference is being overriden by an attempt to be "cool" and "popular" (a.k.a. gay).
I have a fairly simple explanation for all of this. We, as a nation, are coming to accept homosexuality more and more. Now, homosexuals are simply not afraid to express their love in public anymore, which I think is a huge step in the right direction. This "rampant lesbianism" is just those that were previously afraid stepping up and not letting homophobia or hatred keep them down. Nobody is being gay to be trendy, I assure you. What's the benefit? Getting mocked and ridiculed? Unfortunately, I assure you that high school students are torn between believing homosexuality is wrong and believing homosexuality is acceptable--the "homosexuality might be fun to try out this weekend" crowd is an extreme minority.
