Theres nothing to think about. Its only if it takes a gun to stop the person, if the person sprays you with pepper spray, you can't shoot him with a gun.

I think we need little to zero gun control.

I prefer other methods as to kill. Stabbing is better, but messier, yet the blood makes it all more personal. Strangling is the most personal of all, as you look the person in the eye and such, but it requires good strength and then killer is in a weaker position because the person has more time to defend himself.

Note: I know this and have come to these conclusions because I study serial killers. Whether I am a psycopath or not is still yet to be determined.
