A lot of you have made comments to the effect of "well, at least Bush knows where his morals lie" or "at least Bush is an ethical man". My first question is where you get this from. He's a devout Christian, sure, but unfortunately that isn't automatically the same thing as having family values. Everyone accused Clinton of being too low on ethics, but I implore you to examine Chelsea Clinton and the Bush twins. If you had to guess, which would you say came from the more "ethical" family?

And secondly, where exactly do ethics and family values come into politics? It's not like a politician can do much to threaten family values, as those come from (drumroll, please) the FAMILY. Even if Clinton, in his personal life, was the biggest slimeball on the planet, his political career was at least fairly solid. Yet people nationwide were acting as if Clinton's sexual exploits would surely take some sort of ethical toll on the entire country and crying for his impeachment.

Just some food for thought.

Clinton's political career was anything but solid, and we are feeling the effects of that now. Clinton was very good at hiding what was realy going on.

As for the kids, well, I don't like to drag first-kids into things, but personally I'd rather have Bush's daughters' than either Clinton's or Kerry's any day. They're gorgeous and apparently are in line for some good jobs after college, and seem to have fun personalities even if they do go overboard occasionally. No complaints here. However, I do not like to drag the president's children into debates, regardless of how much I may dislike their parents, and will not dispute that Chelsea Clinton or Kerry's kids are anything less than terrific and ethical people as well.
