I have recently had this own debate in my own house...
It was once said that in war "Young men die and old men talk."

Do you think it should be this way?

Do you beleive that the limit from 35 should be dropepd to 18 to qualify for president?

Do you think there should be a bigger increase in Youth or younger minds in the goverment?

Do you think the information of our Elders keeps us stable and intact?
Or does it lead us into a nonliberal repeating record?

Just curious of your thoughts,
Thanks.

no...no no no no no no no
there is no way that i would want an 18 year-old running America.have you been in contact with an 18 year old lately??they can hardly run themselves, let alone a country!unless you want the national anthem changed to "baby got back" i suggest we stick to 35+ year olds.they have more life experiance and have had time to mature and be sure of where they stand politically.

I think that the age limit is ridiculous. American's should have the choice who they want to vote for, and it shouldn't be limited to people of any specific qualification. If a porn star, Gary Coleman and Arnold S. (not even gonna' try to spell that) can run for govenator, why can't anyone of any age run for president? Don't get it twisted- I'm not say that an 18 year should be president, or that everyone should vote for an 18 year old, but if someone is qualified, they deserve a chance to run. Even if they aren't, the american people aren't smart enough to distinguish for themselves. Besides, maybe more people between the ages of 18-30 would become interested if they thought someone held their interests in mind.

But many times our (generalizing all teens and young adults here) actions are less thought out than someone of say, thirty-five's thoughts would be.

People at the age of 18 should be allowed to become president, just like people at 34 or 35. They can be just as involved in America as the old people. They are, also, sometimes, more active than most adults.

I don't think it should be dropped that much. Although I do think the presidents we have had have been too old for my liking. I can't really say they have all been bad, but I do believe we need younger minds in the government. I believe that sometimes we are more in touch with our feelings rather than the practical side of things. If the age were to be dropped I think it should be to 30 or something, but not 18. My teacher said that its not about being smart but being mature, sometimes a 20 year old may not be as ready to deal with some situations as a 30 year old might be. I agree with this, up to some level. So, I believe we do need (desperately) younger minds in the government.

I love TR. ..Just thought I'd mention it.

As for lowering the age...I think 35 is a perfectly fine age to be President. In this case only, I'd go with the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" thing.

Besides, like zzyxz pointed out, you need new minds, not young minds.

I thought this thread was going to be more about what the title was...pity.

Younger minds in the governmet? No. New minds? Yes. We need some people besides the corrupt politicians we have running things now. Like Kinky down in Texas. If he ran for President, I'd vote for him.

Wisdom is immeasurable. And it doesn't necessarily take years to develop wisdom. You can have a wise four-year-old and a foolish fifty-year-old.

I agree with peartreehoops! To be pesident, there is more than just knowing what you want to change and do. You need to study to know how you would achieve it. Like Peartreehoops said, it takes years to develop wisdom
