you know, as i'm reading all the constant verbal accusations and hurling of slurs by the leftists on this site, i can't help but notice the self-censorship by those who claim free speech for all.

is this site filtering these slurs, or is this blatent slef-censorship by those who hear the word censorship and cringe?

This site is privately owned. So they have the right to censor anything they want, regardless at how stupid and/or ridiculous it may seem to you. This is exactly what the title of the thread implies... Self censorship.

I attempted writing the "F" word in the following format-LETTER,*,LETTER,LETTER. The rest of it was censored. I don't like self-censorship, or any censorship for that matter, but I supposed that if the filter caught that, it may catch other things, so I might as well censor things a bit more so that BB wouldn't send out the thought police but people would still have an idea of what I am saying. Glad to know it's a light filter.

actually yes it does bother me. and i have adressed it several times. they never seem to respond. recently i pointed out the fact that they deleted an entire post of mine (as far as I can tell), that happened to be rather vulgar (although I was using it to prove a point as i recall). I left them a message pointing out the error down in the "Talk to Us" section. I'm working my way down the boards. Hopefully they've adressed it. My message is still gone from the board though.
