Ok, maybe you've heard about the new laws, the Patriot Act. It's a huge document, with a lot unfair laws.

One of these laws says that the U.S. has the right to inspect (or go into) ANY computer, from anywhere in this planet, from everyone.

This is just brutal. It's reformed espionage. An invasion of our privacy. Since when does Bush has the right to check my emails and stuff if he want to? Geez, my parents is enough.

I know that I am going to hear "It's four our countrie's protection." Fine. But there is a difference between portecting your country and actually becoming a spy. Bush wanted to start a dumb war, we can let that go, but this is something that can affect anyone, even if they are not American.

And since when is Bush the Global Police Force or something? I'm sick of Bush thinking that hecan do anything to anyone because he think he's always right.

I am comparing Bush to Nixon (another President who resigned) because that is the exact reason why people started hating Nixon, to the point where he actually resigned. Espionage. His "Plumbers" broke into Watergate one night, and when his "Plumbers" where caught, he told to stop the investigations (which were taped). All of this (and more that he did) was illegal.

it does not matter. they arent going to arrest you for looking at porn or anything like that. what are they going to find that they will disagree with? they have been doing this for two years and no disgruntled arguments on what is right or wrong came up. if they find somthing suspicious, they will not just jump to conclusions theyll research it more.
if it is considered a military straegy, the constitution allows it.
The Emancipiatoion Prclamation stated all black slaves free and northern dems said it was against constitution. but it weakend the south because their entire economy was based on slaves so it was considered a military strategy.
if the Patriot Act can stop terrorism inside the US it is considered a military action because it takes out terrorists inside the US which weakens the al-Qaieda network.

It's not "if you have nothing to hide". If they find anything that they don't agree with, they'll be able to arrest you. They will not only track what sites you look at and emails and such, they will also be able to see what you buy, what library books you check out, the music you listen to. Someone else on here said "It's for our own protection!" You need to research it before you say stuff like that. You look at the things that the government is planning on doing and you'll think that you've been put into the movie Fahrenheit 451 only worse... a lot worse. And the people that are going to get hit the worst are the ones that refuse to pay attention to what's going on.

do you not know anything?! The Patriot Act is for our own protection. Would you rather have a plane come crashing into your house or have your emails checked? and why are you so scared that the government will look at your emails? or wherever you go on the internet? are you hiding somthing? what is the government going to do? publicly humliate you? that is against the law. the patriot act is for our own protection.

how old are you junior?
i suggest you look into politics before jumping and saying things that arent true.
i stress this too much. WE ARE A SUPERPOWER! WE ARE A SUPERPOWER! WE ARE A SUPERPOWER! It is our job to make safe the world from those who would wish to harm it and those who inhabit it. we wil not always be a superpwer we must do what we can while we can. No one else will and some things need to get done.
its not like we go into some japenese house and start singing the nat'l anthem to them. or go into a french household and tell them to support america. IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN POSED SIGNIFICANT THREATS to the America.
what kind of civilization are we? no one helps those who are in need.
the Iraqis were over there suffering and dying and the UN did squat about it and choose to ignore it and say there is no proof that this was happening. you saw how happy the Iraqis were when we liberated them! Bush was protectiong America from nuclear war by taking out those regimes besides the fact that those countries were in complete violation of humanitarian rights. you liberals seem to be so careful about that here in America but dont give a d a m n about people in other countries who are suffering even worse then those who are being treated "poorly" here. If a person here is conked over a the head by a cop, the liberals will start a federal investigation or somthing even more brash. but when it comes to the thousands of people being killed in Iraq you stay silent and deny the fact that anything is going wrong in Iraq. it sickens me.

Ok hunny first off, I dont think that President Bush is sitting there at night with a flashlight underneath his blanket reading all your e-mail, he has alot to do.
Also, have you ever heard of hackers, they have been hacking into computers world wide for years, let alone the CIA, FBI, etc.
Now, onto your little thing about you comparing him to Nixon, I just did a report on Watergate so I can totally back up Bush with this. First off, Nixon did absolutly nothing in Watergate, yes he had the Plumbers do it for him, but the only thing that he did wrong, was try to cover it up. And your little part about how people didn't like Nixon... people LOVED Nixon! This law has been around for a long time, and I'm sure that because you havent had men in black suits at your front door, that you have nothing to worry about.
You comparing Nixon to Bush just doesn't work out... sorry Smile

Presidents have been policing the globe long before Bush. The Monroe Doctrine started it all.

First of all, what is embodied in the Patriot Act exists in other areas of law as well. Furthermore, some of your brilliant (and Democratic) politicos like Fritz Hollings have pushed measures to legalize hacking, among other things. So, the FBI being able to wiretap you is just the tip of the iceberg.

And, have you ever heard of "reasonable cause"? The police can search your home or car if they have reasonable cause to believe a crime has been committed and evidence is hidden. So, why is your computer any different?

Third, and I've brought this up quite a few times, but the surveillance provisions in the Patriot Act wouldn't even be possible if it weren't for a Democratic Congress in the early 90's passing the so-called "Clipper Chip Bill", signed into law by Bill Clinton, which mandated telcos and ISPs provide wiretapping functionality to the FBI. This law later became the Communication Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA). Incidentally, this also begat the Omnivore and later Carnivore (now called DCS1000) tools which actually perform the surveillance.

The point is not to prove that the Democrats are actually the ones to blame for these surveillance powers (although, in this specific case, they are), but to point out, CelticNewAger, that you're too immersed in propaganda to realize you haven't been told the whole story.

"Since when does Bush has the right to check my emails and stuff if he want to?" I highly doubt the President will be checking your personal e-mail himself celticnewager.

"And since when is Bush the Global Police Force or something?" Let's see - ever since Truman was president after WWII. So why don't you complain about the democratic party, okay?

Nixon resigned because he brok public law and didn't want to be impeached. Why would congress impeach Bush since he is following a public law they passed? Maybe you should complain to your elected rep. or senatro before you pass the buck to Bush, okay moron?
