I've heard soem people makw jokes about if Bush were to change our laws enough so that he would be able to run for a third term in office, like some people have also speculated about Putin doing in Russia. I think that people say this for the most part because they are so scared of how Bush is changing our country. What do you guys think of this? do you think Bush would go as far enough to do this? And if you are a conservative who supports him right now, would you still continue to support him if he ran for a third term? The term limit for presidents was made for a reason you know, to keep one president from gaining too much power. Woudl you support Bush no matter what, or would you be agnry that he tried to change a law like that. Also, would you be angree if a democratic president did that?

A change in term limits...it would never get through congress and Americans would make sure to tell their representitives. Also Bush wouldnt be able to it in less than 4 years

Celtic, are you suggesting that certain human beings are better because they aren't "white trash" or "white-collar rich *****"? What was your point by saying that? Anyway, the other 49% liked Kerry because he favored them, so what? Don't be a sore loser.

If you're talking to me, I know. That's just the slogan from the opposition when he ran for another term after having already served 2.

Yeah, I know it's hard to amend the constitution, but look at whats happening right now with gay marriages. some states have already passed laws on the state level banning gay marriage, and bush is pushing to put it through on a national level. Also, people used to say that social security was the so called "third rail" of politics, because if you touched it, you died. now look whats happenign with that, too. And another thing, FDR was actually elected 4 times, not three, he just died shortly into his fourth term. P.S. Sorry CNA, if I got that thing wrong about Putin possibly wanting to change the laws allowing him to stay in control longer. I heard a debate aout it on a couple of different news shows, and one of the main debators seemed to think that he would do it someday.

51% of America is composed by either trailer white trash or white-collar rich ***** who like Bush for favoring them. I put you in the white trailer trash category. (No offense to white people, everyone on YN knows I laugh at idiots of all races)

No, no, no. Putin is trying to bring back Soviet-like government. If Bush gets a third term, it'll finally assure America's fall.

There is no possible way this will ever happen. It is really, really hard to amend the constitution.

No, I don't think President Bush will change the laws to legalize a third term. I don't think it is poiltically feasible particularly with the country being as divided as it is. FDR was the president who caused there to be term limits in the first place and he was INCREDIBLY popular winning some places with 90 plus% of the vote. I highly doubt a president who has such significant opposition would be able to accomplish this.
