Should the Church and State be seperated? How will that affect out country if church and state are completley separated? Is our goverment better with religion in it? Do we use all religions if we combine the two, or just one? And if just one what religion?

Church and State shouldn't be combined. The U.S. was a sanctuary for the early Pilgrims because of religious strictness in England, was it not? (Or, that's what I remember from History class. xD) So, pulling Christianity -- or any religion -- into government would pretty much cancel that point. Of course, write_out_loud brought up the point that it's near impossible for that to happen, and I also agree.

I agree. We need to make sure that church and state are separated, otherwise, the government's going to be unfair to at least 1 person in the country. And, imho, then it's not a democracy.

hmmmm tough question...
Personaly, i think they should be COMPLETELY seperated. religon should have nothing to do with politics.
however, its a mute point. government officials will always apply such things as their race, sex, and religon to the decisions they make and their views on matters such as same-sex marriage. The only way to completely seperate church and state is to put a robot in power lol.
I agree with Capricorn_09 in that freedom OF religon also means freedom FROM religon. But even if church and state were seperated, questions would be raised on the motives of decisions made by officials. For example, if a southern state (who claimed to have church and state seperated) decided againgst same-sex marriage, people would ask why they decided against it.. law suits would soon follow and politics would be in a worse state then they are now.
keeping church and state seperate is a fantastic idea, but it would rely on people to trust politicians and not sue for extra money. and, unfortunatly, that will simply never happen.

Hmm lets take the two most corrupt institutions in your nation and put them together. That'll solve ALL your problems.

Church and State should be completely, 100% separated. "America was not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion" or any other religion for that matter. I think the framers of the Constitution intended the government to be neutral regarding religion. I don't mean the government should be against religion, just not for a specific one. If the government were ruled by religion, certain Americans would lose certain rights, and I don't believe having religion in the government would work to the benefit of our country. Freedom OF religion also means freedom FROM religion.
