Most of you probably heard about the guys who put the LiteBrites all around Boston as advertisting for a new video game, only to be arrested for causing chaos or something like that because people thought they were bombs. Anyway, the men had been hired to place these things in about a dozen of different cities, including Atlanta, LA, San Francisco, Portland (OR), and Chicago. Boston is the first to react by pressing charges, and the only other city with any real reaction at all was Seattle, where they were "removed without a fuss." (Here is the article - click).
Anyway, just one of many hilarious and somewhat pathetic parts of this case is that Time Warner hired the guys, and then the Time Warner-owned CNN broke the case about the devices.
Also, if you haven't seen the press conference they gave yesterday, you have to watch it, because it is hilarious, and will make the title of this thread make sense, sort of: video.
So, what do you think?

I can understand how people might think the LiteBrite's were bombs, but still, who puts a bomb in something that noticeable? People are too jumpy. If someone's going to blow up Boston, it will be with a bowl of clam chowder, not a LiteBrite.
This is the proper response to guerilla marketing via LiteBrites:
quote:
In Portland, police Sgt. Brian Schmautz said officers had no plans to remove any of the signs, so long as they weren't on municipal property. Nor had officers been dispatched in any kind of bomb scare related to the devices.
"At this point we wouldn't even begin an investigation, because there's no reason to believe a crime has occurred," Schmautz said.
This is Boston's response:
quote:
In Boston, however, state, local and federal authorities on Wednesday shut down the Boston University and Longfellow bridges, and blocked maritime traffic from the Charles River into Boston Harbor. Bomb squads scrambled throughout the city and its suburbs, snarling traffic and mass transit in the city.
Coakley and Menino did not rule out the possibility of criminal charges, or a civil suit to recoup what they say is the hundreds of thousands of dollars the city spent to respond to the bomb scares.
This has led me to conclude that Boston is a bunch of fucking pussies. Boston, you are LiteBrite's bitch. That is your shame, and you are the nation's shame.
