The "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy, implimented during the Clinton Administration, to conquer the idea of gays in the millitary has infact cost America what I believe was a figure of 200 million dollars(FOX-Channel 2; SF, CA). The reason is that gay men and women have been discharged due to the discovery of their sexuality and many in the gay community have refrained from joining the military due to the policy. This costs the government money and troops.

As for your question, I believe the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy is one that sounds great in theory but is riddled with problems. It would be considerably better if it were changed to "Don't Ask, and if You Tell We Don't Care." Still, the policy beats "We Ask, if You Tell Us The Wrong Answer Go Home." As the need for soldiers to fight in Iraq grows, I think this will prove an ideal time for America to re-evalutate its stance on homosexuals in the military.
