i believe that if the public wishes, they can gather into milisha groups and walk right up to the white house, knock on the door, and forcefully reccomend that the government change. What do you think?

Yeah, if the millitary supports the revolution then its got a chance. But without that, the general public may be persuaded to think of the revolutionaries as isolated crazies.

In a revolution situtation, think about it like this, you could have 4 Waco type situtations in every city. + 38% of the US trained millitary on the Peoples side + who knows how many cops, and fbi, cia, dea, etc. Other countries would see the US is weak and attack us. Now the US is fighting two fronts, urban warfare with about 55% of its armed forces. which would quickly fall. The people would see its own govt killing its own people.... this will change the attitude of lots of people. riots would break out, and cities would be hard to take, there would be a bunch of cilvian snipers in the high rises.

Hmmm. an attempted revolution would cause much chaos, if it was large enough. Probably the police would brutally supress early activites. If, however, the police were eliminated in some aries and their arms taken, the millitary might become an option. Federalizing the troops could happen in such an event. At this point the millitary's attitude becomes important. If they support it, then civil war breaks out. But if they don't- the revolution would probalby be crushed. Civilians can't beat tanks.

"We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God." - James Madison

quote: Come on, the constitution was written in a time when a group of angry colonists could grab muskets and beat the British Empire. But now, at most you can get an assault rifle. The government has helicopters, planes, subs, aircraft carries, satellites, training, tanks, napalm, nukes, artillery, hummvees, troops, lots of guns, explosives, and a couple hundred billion dollar budget.
It was also written at a time when hand printing presses where the only way of mass-production of media. Perhaps that's outdated too. Nukes and WMDs aren't very effective on home turf, unless you want to kill your own people to boot. Moreover, it's unlikely that the military would turn on other Americans. Lcdr Earnest Guy Cunninghan did a survey on military attitudes back in 1994 covering this specific issue, and found that only 38% would participate in actions against the American people. Aside from the total unit breakdown that would occur, it would unlikely be successful given the number of participants and the general conservatism of the military.
Liberals prefer equality - all people should be equally poor, unsafe and badly-educated.

I think F451 is right in saying there are better and more civilized ways to overthrow the gov. If we worked together then we will be able to be heard. Shot guns and pitchforks shouldn't be the way of the future. Let's try a new, different approach.

Hows so? is our constitution also out dated now? I's sorry but you can not fight a corrupt gov. with "voting or just getting your opinion out there"

Ridiculous. Are you suggesting that the American people overthrow the Bush administration?

Your beliefs are completely ridiculous. We live a different day of age now, gathering up the local town with shotguns and pitch forks is not longer an alternatvie to a better government. It the people truly want a change, they will make it happen in a civilized, respectable manner. This can be done through voting or just getting your opinion out there.

I think they would get shot before they reached the fence. Although a basic tenet of the constitution is the right to bear arms and rise up against a corrupt government, it is much easier said then done. Corruption in any government is the beginning of the end, although the end can come slowly.
