YoungWorld- I think wat brookeleigh89 is referring to is that it's kinda close to saying prayers in school to say 'under God' and plus not everyone believes in God. But I agree with NuShoesAgain- if no one has been compaining about it then why should our gov't? There are really much bigger issues to solve- you know, world hunger? Stuff like that. But they're too stuck on one little line that they don't even want to look around them and see the other problems.

ColdPrincess-I understand what you are saying, and it's a shame that the gov't. won't consider the true problems that are facing the country; but the fact of the matter is the little things are the big things to the gov't. The priorities of the gov't. are not for the benifit of the people.

We elect leaders to care for the well being of the everyday american, not in the best interest of big corporations and special interest groups; but until the american people speak up and take action against our political counterparts there will be no true change.

Because they make a big deal about little things and shove the big things into the background. Yes, I know that I will probably now be assaulted by the secret service, but who gives a damn. (lol)

What democrats are you hearing complaining about God in the pledge?...Last I recall it's the conservative base of the government that's trying to place religion in governmental policy, but that's not the case for arguement.

And Brooke you're absolutely right, we do have bigger fish to fry, the thing is what is the republican party willing to do about the situations we have rather than being so ivasive to the american public on policies that ultimately affect the nation as a whole.

I myself personally am a moderate democrat, but it shouldn't come to the point where political affiliation determines whether or not something gets done for the whole of the union. American is american, what happens today affects the outcome of tommorrow, so let's do something now to insure a better tommorrow.

I agree, dont.

As a general rule, Democrats and Rubs both care about similar things, but the manner in which things are dealt with is much different. Rubs tend to go to war while democrats attempt diplomacy and similar things like that. And most obviously, they have differing opinions on gun control, abortion, etc, though the beliefs are not neccassarily party specific, but only lumped together because it is a thought of most the group.

Allow me to put it this way: your argument is a house lacking a foundation.

To be quite honest, it doesn't really matter to me whether or not "God" is in the Pledge. One can choose not to say it. True: it goes against our Constitution and is mildly offensive to non-believers/those of other religions, but...bigger fish. My point is: don't make such generalizations, 'cause guess what? I'm one of those *ahem* "whiny democrats."

And for the sake of dignity, don't refer to democrats as "dems." I suppose we should just shorten republicans to "rubs" or something, yes?

Oh, you are all morons.

How could you possibly be insulted by the obvious, yet seemingly undiscovered by this ever-so cruel and ignorant Earth, intellect of Brooke?

Brooke, are you implying that Democrats don't care about war, disaters, and terrorsist attacks? For your information, I have organized a huge fundraiser at my school for Hurricane Relief. It was and is a really big deal.

If I was a Republican, I'd be embarrassed that you were a member of my party. You can be a republican. That's fine with me. But please refrain from insulting Democrats especially with no real basis.

Brooke- Do you know what the two major parties each stand for, and why? Also, who were your sources of information?

I live in the most conservative county in California, and I used to consider myself a Republican until I learned about the Democratic party's platform (and the value of compassion).
