What's your take on the double vacancy in the supreme court? Given my political affiliation, I'm especially interested in what the Democrats in the Senate should do. I say let Roberts in to take Rehnquist's spot in the Court. That would be a conservative-for-conservative trade; fair enough. After that, though, the Democrats should do anything in their power to create a more centrist court; otherwise, Roberts, Scalia, and whoever Bush appoints next could form a strong conservative nucleus in the court for many years. Our Supreme Court is supposed to interpret US law the American way, and that means representing the US. We need a centrist court to avoid favoritism of one party over the other by the Supreme Court.
