1200 Americans die everyday from tobacco related illnesses. That means that in one year about 440,000 people will have died from tobacco. Thats more than AIDS, drugs, homocides, fires and car accidents combined.

Cigarette smoke contains 11 chemicals that have been proven to be cancer causing.

Yes I think it should become illegal, will it? No. We can try, and yes we might even change someone by them not smoking, but that is ONE person out of TRILLIONS.

Tobacoo won't ever become illegal no matter how hard we try. Not anytime soon anyway. It's just like drugs, if people want it bad enough they will get it. Once you get addicted, you just can't stop. Look at my gramma, she had lun cancer and still smokes.

Tobacco is like slow suicide. It’s stupid. I don’t see anything good coming out of it, and it’s a TOTAL waste of money. If you want to die why don’t you just shoot yourself in the head and get it over with it?

I don't think it should be illegal, it's your choice, but i think they should write citations for people who spit chewing tobacco on the sidewalk and where people have to see it and step in it. It is the most disgusting thing ever and should Be stopped. I am not a supporter of cigarettes, but i think makin them illegal is pointless...weed is illegal and what difference does it make? yeah people get arrested but think of all the people you know that still do it even with the laws against it.

I don't know either. I would like for it to be illegal, but people who choose to smoke, well, that's them. They can mess up their lungs, die, and smell like junk if they want to. I'm not going to stop them. But it is wrong. Out with tobacco, in with bubble gum cigars/cigarettes.

In some sense tobacco should be illegal... but even if it was illegal people would still get tobacco. Just like marijuna.

Hmmm, Tuffy. My grandparents smoke, and they smell, and are so close to dying. I think it should be illegal because of how many people die from it. I want to know who would want to waste their life like this? There are cooler ways to die.

The government makes way too much money off cigarette taxes. They'll never make it illegal.

I don't think it's a good idea to make tobacco illegal. You smoke of your own personal freedom, and everyone well knows the risks of smoking. No one forces you to do anything, including peer pressure. You can always say no, you always have a choice. Besides, even if you do make it illegal, people will find a way to smoke, or make a replacement that's maybe even deadlier than the last.

even if we make it illegal people will still do it people still do pot and making it illegal just makes the demand for it go up while keeping it legal the governement can tax it. thats the only plus. people know how bad it is for them yet they still do it so it's up to them

i dunno, maybe it should, it causes a lot of deaths and health issues, and all of the stuff they put into it is really disgusting. A lot of stuff like not wearing seatbelt used to be legal, but look at all the deaths and injuries it caused. They seem to be advertising its effects and disgustingness pretty well on TV and the packages and in schools and stuff, and I think that if a person starts to smoke after they know all of that gross stuff or doesn't try to quit if they are allready smoking, they are just stupid and don't care about their lives or the live of the people around them who are getting second hand smoke. I think that it is bad for the envoironment as well.

Several of my family memebers, including my dad, smoke and i worry that they will die one day so i would wish that they would make tobacco illegal for the good of everyone whether they are the smokers or just their family.

i believe that tobacco should be illegal 4 the simple fact that it can cause so many health issues and also put others like myself who have chronic ilnesses in critical danger. i feel that no one has the right to take a second off of my life!
