Just read this article: a business owner gives his employees bonuses in the form of $2 bills and asks that they spend the cash at local businesses. He used $2 bills because it would be easier to see the money circulating amongst the small town. I guess you could say a 'social experiment' of sorts on the stimulus. How would you use stimulus money to make your community better? http://blog.al.com/live/2009/0...ist_launches_ho.html

it is a great story. I bet there are tons of these going on all around the country. I heard about a group meal effort - in a neighborhood where families joined for meals, keeping costs down and cooking, using gas, heat etc. to a minimum for each family involved. It is working well apparently. I think these little things will help us all get through this recession.

Wow, I love the fact that the boss of this local store decided to give his employees a stimulus. The federal government is putting a lot of money in to support the economy. But I wonder if they put the same about of money into bailouts as they do in stimulus packages. I'm not sure if the money that really wealthy CEOs spend on things like private jets make it back to every day people. But I guess this experiment shows how it could..

I am in love with this idea! What a cool way to experiment with boosting a local economy and tracking its impact ($2 bills are pretty rad). If I were one of Danny's employees, I think I would use my stimulus cash to support the local arts scene-- go see a play or some live music. Art is so vital to a community, and it takes a hit during a recession. Or I'd finally buy a new bike so I can use my car less I don't exactly have $16,000 lying around to do a similar experiment, but I'm trying to think of other (cheaper) ways you could stimulate the local economy. Ideas?
