Last year while having a class discussion about gay marriage in my History class, my teacher made a very interesting and great point that i have always referred to. He said that the social outcry against gay marriage is very much reminiscent to the social outcry against mixed marriages between races in the mid 1900's. I believe as he said that in 50 years or so people will look back on our narrow minded, homophobic, and at times intollerant society and say we were crazy to try to stop gay marriage because of our religious beliefs. I myself am a catholic but sometimes i think that religion in politics has gone too far and the rights of minorites are being ignored.

FINALLY!!!!! a religious person who is not a slave to their religion. if religion does not allow you to hold your own beliefs and values, and essentially tells you how to live your life-it is, by definition, a cult. i consider you more religious and respect-worthy than every evangelical freak who forces their will on the world. THANK YOU!!
