It's kinda vice-versa, it can be that you'll depend on them. In any case, they can defend themselves.

free world has too much at stake with Russia, i.e. the second largest oil reserve in the world. The free world would never let a commuist regime take control of something that powerful.

China has open its doors to trading which will mean that their communist economic system will not much last longer (10 - 15 years). That leaves Cuba, North Korea, and Vietnam to rise to the ocasion.
