its all psycological... people who get addicted to that stuff simply have minds that are weak in that sense. it's a matter of disipline as well as existing predispositions towards dependance. like with people who cheat.

redrepublican, show me where it says that the female plant is addictive. it is a known fact that pot is not at all physically addictive. (they teach you that in freakin health class.) and for anyone who says it's "psychologically addictive," ANYTHING can be psychologically addictive. by that logic, i'm addicted to cheetos. maybe we should outlaw them.

The male plant is called HEMP, you cannot smoke it because it does not have bud, all it will do is give you a headache.
You smoke the female plant because it has the buds, just like any plant growing fruits.

maybe im stating the obvious but there are two types of marijuana (idk how to spell it) there is a male plant which is far from addicting but there is also the female plant which is very addicting.

I personally think that marijuana should be illegal to smoke. Marijuana has many good properties, it's even used as medicine. But the fact is, that, just like alcohol, too much of it will cause you to make irrational decisions. Drinking alcohol, smoking anything and doing drugs is, in the long run harmful to your body and in the bigger picture, the people around you and the environment. And if drugs are illegal, why isn't tobacco and alcohol illegal? D.A.R.E's definition of a drug is anything that is addictive. Tobacco and alcohol are both addictive and should therefore be taken off the market. But the US government always finds a way for their laws to have a loophole. Let's hope that we'll do better.

Same here. I stopped without even thinking about it. I didn't stop because of conscience or because it's "wrong" or anything like that. For example, you drink Coke all of the time, you get tired of it. Just because you gave up drinking Coke doesn't mean that you're going to move on to harder drinks like beer or whisky. It's a lie that once you smoke that you're ready to move on to hard drugs.
I can't say that I've hear of "weed rehab". I would laugh my arse off if I did. Bauhaus, have you heard of it? Not saying that there isn't such a thing, but geez! Weed is just an excuse to lock people up.

quote: Tell that to the 250,000 people that enter drug rehab for pot every year because they can't stop.
My friends and I used to be major pot heades... but we still stopped without any problems

You can't OD on cigarettes, either. And alcohol poisoning fatalities are relatively rare.

I actually agree that "pot" shouldn't be illegal. I don't have this totally memorized so my facts might be a little off, but marijuna wasn't actually illegal until 1954 (year?). The reason that it was made illegal is because the government and the tabacco industry were cohorts together and figure that the weed plant would cause too many problems. The plant itself is great for numerous things... clothes, paper, and there was actually an idea to use it as fuel for vehicles not to mention you can smoke it. If it was made to be illegal then the tabocco industry would be a monopoly... no the game. Marijuana is not addictive. If you like the effects that it has on you, yes, you'll do it again and again, but hey, if you love chocolate or skittles or something like that you're going to eat it again and again, right? It's not me that's saying that it's not addictive, it is medically proven to not be addictive. Alcoholism is a different story on the other hand. I've never heard of pottisms annonymous.

You dudes arent looking at the large picture. Just because a drug wont kill you doesnt mean it is "ok". Cutting of your finger wont kill you, that doesnt make it a good pasttime.
Personally, I smoke a lot of weed and have for a couple years now. The down side to it is clearly that you are inhalling smoke. I don't care much though. If I get cancer when I'm 76 so be it. At least I will be stoned in the desert.

Cocaine and opium also grow naturally...perhaps we should legalize those, too?
If alcohol and cigarettes are so bad, why the f--- would you want to add pot or anything else into the mix?
