Matthew Limon of Kansas was sentenced to 17 years in prison for committing consensual same sex acts with another male teen, a harsher sentence than a teen of the opposite sex would have received.

Even if Limon had had sex with a girl, he would have been in trouble. But he and his family were shocked to find out just how much trouble he was in. Under Kansas' Romeo and Juliet law, Limon's actions earned him a 17-year prison sentence. If he had performed the same sex act on a girl, his sentence would have been about 15 months.

Is this unfair or what?

Notes
-Matthew was 18, the other guy was14/15 I believe
-Matthew has mental probs

Crime or not, the same "crime"/crime (however you see it) should be punished with the same time.

I heard about this when I was watching a gay lawyer speak on UCTV. I believe his sentence is extremely unfair. I mean yeah he should go to jail for messing around with a 14 year old, but 17 years is certainly over doing it.

i do admit its a harsh sentence for him and the law should be improvised.. However, i do have to say that what he did was wrong and yes, he does have mental problems... i have nothing against bisexuals... Its just that some of them are doing things that families or other people find disgusting and that results to prison and even death...
He should have been given a lesser sentence and should be taken to some rehab care.

i do not think that it was fair for the man to be sentenced for that long. no i am not a bisexual. i am a girl and i like boys. but i think everyone has a rite to choose wat gender they want to be with. noone else has the rite to judge them unfairly.

The Honorable Vice President, Honorable Chief Financial Officer, and Honorable Founding Father of the Honorable Coalition Announces the Following...

He got the punishment he deserved. Please provide me with the Kansas state law that says homosexuals recieve stricter punishments than heterosexuals for sex crimes.

I do not think mental problems should excuse people from the law. I think Matthew got what he deserved for breaking statitory rape laws.

As for the fact his sentence might have been increased because the act was homosexual. I do not think that is fair.
