Damn, I didn't think it would expire so quickly.
Here's the jist of it:
A mostly white highschool with a small number of black students was holding a sort of competition for a Distinguished African American Student award. All the kids did was plaster the school with flyers encouraging the student body to vote for a white student (who was from South Africa, and so should have been qualified for the award), and they were suspended for it, because it offended some black students. Evidently, African American only means black African American anymore.

The link now says the article expired. Can anyone find it or explain what it's about?

Right. The government wasn't forcing anyone to be a Christian, and it certainly wasn't endorsing Christianity. There was no point in removing it, other than appeasing a few PC Liberals, ultra-secularists and "offended" non-Christians. Besides, god or gods show up on Government buildings all the time. Our currency says "In god we trust." Hell, in our courts and people swear on the bible to tell the truth! Are we going to remove all of that?
But that's another debate.

Yeah, well Justice, just because the Ten Commandments monument is offensive to people doesn't mean it should be taken down.
(I'm agreeing with you on one of your previous posts)
Right?

That is one fo the dumbest things I EVER heard. Nowadays, everyone is so worried that someone is going to offend someone then PC comes along. It's bull. What was so offensive about that?! Seriously, people over use offensive. "OMG don't do that it might offend someone!" quote: of.fend vi. to hurt the feelings of; insult
Webster's New World Dictionary
That meaning has NOTHING to do with what that young gentlemen did. Nothing. The world is falling a part because of stupid things like this. -Sunset

Commie you pathetic. You cannot argue your point so you just go to insulting Republicans, that is immature.
The Right wing is for equality, otherwise they'd be for afirmative action and other such racist programs.
Communism (i'm discussing communism since this is probably where you get you perverted since of justice) is completely retarted for thinking that social freedom comes with more government intervention. The government only ensalves people to its rule. The only way to increase freedom is by redcuing the government.

Ok I totally agree with the opinion about hate and wrong actions, but saying that all Republicans are not American and are against peace and are racist is wrong.

The point is that the students KNEW that the award was for a distinquished black student and still did it. I agree, he is an African-American. But he went about it the wrong way. He should have talked to the principal..maybe the school board..even his parents about it before he took action. It would have saved him and his friends a lot of trouble.

This story is just sad. To begin with, why do we still insist on recognizing race? Aren't we all Americans? Or do we still have de-facto segregation, this time in a PC way? Secondly, these kids didn't do anything disruptive or illegal. They just poked fun at the idea of an African American award, just like some people poke fun at our government, schools, towns, etc. It's called "joking" or "satire." And lastly, offensiveness isn't a valid reason for getting rid of something, and if they have to censor something they should at least come up with something better than "it hurts their feelings."

Exactly. He's African American. They ought to change the name of the award to Distinguished Black Person of the Year.
