Hey, all! I know that most everyone on the boards that can vote will. Still, I thought it necessary to throw out one last attempt at getting people to the polls. Campaigning and spreading the word are the best way I know to help during elections, being under 18 and whatnot. This past Friday, we (the high school Young Dems club) handed out literature on Democratic values and Callaghan [D]. Accompanying us was a high school Young Democrats president from another county as well as Mike Callaghan (running for US Congress against Shelley Moore Capito [R]) himself. We stood by the entrance to the football field, approaching people as they entered the last game of the season. Callaghan shook hands while the other president and myself handed out fliers, encouraged people to get out and vote, register, tell their parents to vote, etc. I was surprised at the number of people who responded with "I don't vote" or "I don't do that" or "I'm not registered". The number of seniors (at 18!) who did not care enough to register was astounding, and the number of adults who turned their heads apathetically even more so. Of course, there were positive responses, but still. . . Obviously, I want you to vote. If you're a Republican, go vote. If you're an Independent, go vote. If you're a Democrat, really go vote. Everyone get out and VOTE. There is still time to register, still time to campaign, still time to make a difference. If you can't vote, tell all your older aquaintances to do so. This election is so important. Just VOTE. It's not that hard! It's a privelage; make good use of it.

If more people vote for third-party candidates, they will have a good chance of winning.

I agree, Clpo. But one thing. . . The democrat and republican power struggle is very important to our country at this time. Even if I did identify more with an I, I'd be more likely to vote for a democrat. I'd rather the Dems have power than the Republicans. It's not that I don't condone voting for Independents (in fact, I'm rather quite fond of a few), I just feel that the Dems need the majority of the power right now, not the Republicans. In a few years when the govermental situation isn't quite as dire (and if Dems retain power), maybe I'll vote for an Independent. But, then again, I'm a pretty solid Democrat. . . I'm not actually too overjoyed at all the people pushing "straight ticket" voting. I would have voted a straight Dem ticket this election (only because the alternatives were far worse), but that doesn't mean everyone has to. And the amount of people who lie at exit polls because they know they "should" have voted a different way is kind of shocking. I hope I'm making sense tonight. . .

It's too late for this election, but here's some advice for the next one: vote for who you think is best, not who you think you should. In other words, don't vote Democrat or Republican because everyone else does. If you do it because you want to, great. But look into third-party candidates. More often than not, they'll fit your political beliefs better than any Democrat or Republican.

I read about that, Ginger, and it sounds like an awesome idea. I'll be letting my friends know tomorrow. Unfortunately, my phone doesn't have video or photo capabilities. Trak phones. . . I'm sure by the time you can vote, Cap, you will. It is our country after all.

Eh...I got a while before I can vote (legally, that is)... But America probably doesn't want me as a registered voter anyways. More than likely I won't pay attention to campaigns or anything...and just end up voting for whoever's name I like best. But hey, these days you're more American by NOT votin...
And I would never feel pain / and never be without pleasure, ever, again / and if the reign stops, and everything's dry, he would cry just so I could drink the tears from his eyes...

Thanks for posting here. Also, anyone with a cell phone can play a part. Just text a comment to vote@veeker.com and it should appear on YN (unless it is "inappropriate"). If your cell phone does video, then send the video to vote@veeker.com. The YN producers and a group of volunteers are asking "What will bring you to the polls on Tuesday?" and, "What do you think of voting in America?". There are a few there now so check them out and get the word out everywhere you can. These videos and text messages may appear on network TV on election day. Also, if you notice anything "irregular" around the polling stations in your community, report in to us and quickly. We have an "engine" in place to actually get out and fix the problems that may arise. Thanks everyone, Ginger, YN CEO
are you doing this?

I'm voting on Tuesday. I love voting. It's my favorite hobby.

I know I'm not supposed to do this but since Election Day is the day after tomorrow (well, it just turned 12 AM, so I guess technically "tomorrow") and it's gotten zero views. . . *bump*
