Lots of people are told this. The majority of them don't go out and make up diseases, though.

Look, I'm far more likely to trust what a doctor says than some random person who claims to have a disease no one has heard of. Could Morgellon's be real? It's possible. But until someone actually makes a diagnosis and discovers what is really is, I'll simply have to assume it's made-up or an already existing disease.

I'll level with you: I don't deny you have something. I don't know what it is, and apparently no one else does either. But why Morgellon's? If no professional has found any evidence of this disease actually existing, why do you claim you have it? The doctors may not know everything, but they do know a hell of a lot more than you or I.

I personally have never told anyone that "i have morgellons." I have symptoms that many other people with this disease have. Now also keep in mind that some doctors have diagnosed patients with morgellons.
I just think it is very ignorant or someone who has not been kicked around the medical system to say that we should put all of our faith in doctors. My story is that I have put my totaly faith in many doctors, my whole family has. Then many doctors saying they dont know, dimiss our case saying it is too much for them to handle. So these people who have gone through years of schooling-- yes they are smart but do not know everything and many have no compassion for people who are suffering.
I think that it is rude for anyone to say we dont know we are hurting or know something is there just because we are not doctors.

I have never heard of morgellons, and personally I've never been one to put my sole trust in doctors, so my advice is, if you think you've got it, research it, find natural ways to help alleviate your symptoms, while searching for a cure. Yes, I'm one of the tree huggers who believes every physical ailment has a natural cure.

Or if that doesn't suit you, make a note of pressing the issue if it means a lot to you. Write letters, call newspapers, put the press on people basically, make them find the answers.

It's also weird for people to not take the word of doctors who have gone through years of schooling in medicine when those doctors tell them what they have is not some made up disease but something else. Which actually exists. And can be treated. But only if the patient (who has not gone through years of schooling and really knows nothing about disease no matter how smart they think they are) recognizes that they don't have some special mystery disease but a common (or uncommon, perhaps) and recognized disease and thus allow treatment to proceed instead of getting second, third, and fourth opinions and finally deciding that the doctors (who have gone through years of schooling) just don't understand and don't want to treat them.

Honestly, having the symptoms of a disease (imagined or real) does not automatically mean you have that disease. The alleged symptoms of Morgellon's Disease vary among patients and can be easily attributed to other diseases. You have to trust that the doctors know what they're doing. I've seen too many people claim they have Morgellon's and refused treatment because "the doctors were wrong." And yet these people have never gone to medical school. You don't trust an Amish person with a computer problem. You go to someone with experience and knowledge. The same applies with disease. You trust the doctors. Plain and simple.

It is a weird thing to be young and go to a doctor telling them your problems and looking for help. It is even more hurtful to see that people dimiss it as nothing and that they are doing minumal research to try and shut people up, not to help.
Just wanted to say hang in there to those of you are also suffering. We can only hope that someone will see what is going on with many many people. And do research to help not to try and shut people up.

I'll tell you first hand Morgellons, it's real.
I too have it. And many that I know have it. CDC has gone from Atlanta to Ca to study this and not because they think it's not real.

You can't just say you have proof; you need to present your proof. Otherwise, your argument means nothing.

Of course they've got a problem. We're just saying it's not some made-up disease. This could be any number of other illnesses, not something that no doctor has yet to diagnose.

I agree, it is not the goverment's job to cure illnesses. However, it is the CDC's job to investigate something of this nature.
It is hurtful to see that there has not been one positive opinion on here. That is whats wrong with this situation, many many people are hurting and no one can show any compassion and no one wants to help them.

Hopefully everyone will see how much pain these poor people are going through.

Best regards, I hope none of you ever have to face an obstacle like this because the only way to get through it is with an optimistic and have a hopeful outlook on life.

They haven't even been able to come up with a conclusive set of symptoms for this disease. It's most likely several different diseases (sp) that A: doctors can't diagnose or B: the patient wants attention

It must be lovely to wake up in the morning and understand everything.

It's not the government's job to cure illnesses.

Human knowledge about disease is limited. Very limited. Add to this the fact that doctors went through school to learn as much as possible about known illnesses, and you realize quickly that doctors are extremely better-versed in what ails their patients than the patients themselves are.

When dealing with the stock market, most people find it best to leave things to a stockbroker, someone who knows what they're doing. When dealing with sickness, things are best left to doctors, who know what they're doing. Self-diagnoses (aside from the common cold and strep throat) are almost always wrong. You can distrust the doctors all you want, but they went to medical school; you didn't.

That's because they're human.

This is ture. But all of these people suffering are also human. So say someone experiencing these sypmtoms went home did research nd came up with Morgellons. Why will a doctor not recognize this as a real disease? I can understand that doctors have lives, but so do their patients. It is easy to say that all doctors are caring when you have not experienced this for yourself. Ignorance is bliss, and makes it so easy for you to just say that these people are nuts.
Why do thousands of people have these same syptoms and are they contagious? This could be the next pandemic and the government isnt even doing little bit of research.

And I just wondered if a disease is unrecognized why is no one curious to find a cure/cause?

That's because they're human. They don't know everything about every disease ever. This is why most doctors make it a point for people to research their symptoms on their own because that will help them make a diagnosis. You have to remember, doctors are very busy people. They can't drop everything they're doing for one person only so they can research a disease for them. That's stupid. Many doctors work up to 20 hours a day. If you help them name whatever it is you have, that makes the process much faster and easier.
