Cloning. Is it ethical? Practical? In humas? In Animals?

We're not playing God: we're making up for his lack of foresight in making humans so damn fragile.

Cloning has, to my knowledge, one useful purpose: to make replacement organs. This is a huge benefit to society. Currently, if you want, say, a heart transplant, you've got to get on a list, wait forever (possibly die), and then run the risk of receiving a heart your body rejects. Now, if doctors were able to take a tissue sample of your own heart and create a genetically identical heart, it would take less time and not be rejected by your body. Everybody wins.

I really don't see the problem, unless we start cloning super-soldiers or something. But no matter how true you think Star Wars is, we're nowhere near being able to clone complete humans. And even if we did, they'd still take 20-25 years to become fully mature. Just like normal humans.

I feel that cloning is an extremely unethical act... be it from a moral perspective or religion perspective.

Whatever it is, I still feel that as long as our first name is human being, we do not have the right to 'create' another 'life' or artificial human. WE ARE NOT GOD... n don't ever try to play God.

Along the same subject, I was doing research for health, and I found that they can clone human embryos to gather stem cells for. I was wondering if anyone knew if it would be theoretically possible to grow such an embryo to term?

Cloning entire humans is probably something that will never happen. However, cloning human organs is much more realistic and practical. By cloning, say, a new heart from a person's existing heart tissue, they can get a heart transplant without having to worry about the new organ being rejected by their body, which is a common problem in organ transplants. The organ would be composed of genetically identical tissue as the rest of the body, meaning it would work with a minimum of complications.

Not only that, but patients wouldn't have to wait for an organ to become available. They would have the organ grown as soon as it is needed (or perhaps have it grown beforehand to be prepared for any such need) and get it as soon as possible, without the risk of dying because no one has a heart to donate.

It definitely gets you thinking, doesn't it?

Whether cloning is considered practical or inhumane, it relates mostly on religion... u get the choice of whether u like it or not, but either way it is still going to be performed.
