ok let me change the question how many people do you know with HIV?

Aids develops from HIV, as you all know. This can take as long as a few months to years to happen. Once someone has AIDS they may still survive for several years in varying stages. In other words since most of us on this site are between 13 and 25 it would be highly unlikely that we would know anybody from our age group that has died from aids. The only person I know of that has AIDS whom is straight would be Magic Johnson, he is still alive right? Here in omaha when I got HIV tested I was told that we have only had 1 HIV positive result in the last 3 years but I don't know if it was a male or female and I don't know their sexual preference.

Proportionally, the difference used to be amazing. Seems like every time I've read any biography/story centering around gay culture more than 15 years ago, there is always someone dying of aids. Now however, not nearly as bad. Good point Bauhaus, but I don't think anyone needs convincing.

she wont back her claims up with sources, she thinks having sex and drugs will kill you.. well guess what? so can driving in a car. Here's a better idea, dont ever be born and you wont ever have to worry about dying.

That's obvious. But even if you present Jamaica with a variety of established facts, she still won't agree. That's just how she is.

The point I'm trying to get at is, the risk of catching AIDS isnt as bad as you think it is. Depending who you associate with, where you live etc.

I don't know anyone personally. Arthur Ashe died of AIDS which he acquired through a blood transfusion. Also, many straight hemophiliacs have died of AIDS like Ryan White.

I don't know anybody personally who has died of AIDS at all.
