It has finally happened. Voixx has awarded half of a billion dollars to a claimant who blamed the drug for the heart attack from which her husband died. Twenty billion is to be set aside for other claimants riding the situation for all it's worth. The company which produces the drug clearly stated that the Vioxx can cause stroke and heart attacks, but she got away with enough money to make her lesser nobility. This is showing a sickening trend of the US and the world at large to view the law as a mode of obtaining wealth, by which I mean sueing. It seems to be the new national pastime. The Vioxx ruling is the most spectacular case of sueing medical proffesionals that will one day destroy this nation. Malpractice insurance is rising so high some doctors are unable to stay in bussiness. If daresay, a man who has been smoking like a chimney for the past fifty years dies from a malignant tumor in his lungs, the hospital is sued. If this continues, the nation will be drained of doctors like a man with a cathater, and we will be having nurses and midwifes delivering babies, many of which will die. When the medicine companies go under from bribery and compensation, who will make the drugs that keep us walking, breathing, and safe? I am not quite sure. There will have to be a total reordering of the medical system, by which time it will be too late for many of us.

WHY SO MUCH? It's not like he was healthy. If he was taking that pill anyway, his life expectancy was shorter beforehand.

In general we need a purging of lawyers, entangling beuracracy, and paperwork in this country. That's probably in the top three problems threatening our quality of life here in the US, maybe even national security. Anyone feel like starting a grass roots movement? I know I do.
