What is your opinion about invitro fertilization? Is it moral? Is it immoral? Does it contrast your beliefs?

I think that it is fine if a mother really wants to be a mother. It is not immoral. I think that it should be a moms choice if she wants it, and her decision should not be influenced by anyone else.

I think it is disgusting and backward thinking. Why would you force yourself to bear children when the world population is so huge and still growing? If you wanted children, you could adopt them. I know that people would want to have their own children, but to do it in such an unnatural manner is sick.

Oh, well that explains the controversy at least. I still personally find nothing wrong with it.

Not quite true. They fertilize a whole lotta eggs, which means a whole lotta embryos. They then pick the best and most viable from that batch, and the rest get frozen somewhere. This, for reasons that should be obvious, is dubious in some people's eyes. I'm not really sure how I feel about it.

My moms friend and her husband were unable to concieve a child together. She tried invitro a couple of times. It never actually worked for her. She ended up adopting two little girls from Russia.

Thanks! Back to the topic...I do not really agree with IVF. It's very much playing God. Mind you, I've never been in the position of any of these couples who are unable to conceive otherwise, and I really can't say what I would do in their situation.

Can someone see that this gets moved to the appropriate forum please? Might I suggest Global Health?
