If for instance, you mother or father was living on life support. Would you ask the doctors to unplug their life support? I dont know what I would do. I was just wondering because my mom just told me that she was going to get a living will so the doctors wouldnt keep her alive by a machine. I was whining that I didnt want her to do that, but I guess she has a point. I wouldnt want to see my mom as a vegetable plugged to a machine.

I would unplug them, why would anyone want to live their life on machine and not be able to do anything? Its not fair, its like living in a jail, but its your own body. I've had to 'unplug' people off life support, my mom. I wouldnt be able to stand seeing her on life support. It'd kill me. I wouldnt let her suffer like that. -Sunset

I believe that if someone requestes it than it should be honored because I agree with Kittie... because not only are u sitting there watching the people u love waste away time on u when nothing can be done... but as u lie there you are piling doctor bills on ur family as well... overall you become a burden to ur family... and as u watch their life get wasted on your hopeless one... u are also watching your life waste away as you watch your kids get older or something and not be able to be there for them.. and know that all you can do is lie there while they go along with their life... and know that u might be holding them back in someway... that would tear me apart inside..

I don't know, it is sorta like the assisted suicide thing, is it humane or not. If they were living in so much misery that they were literally begging to die, would you help them by pulling it?

if they wanted to die, then I'd let them. people should have the right to choose the circumstances that qualify their life as so painful or empty as to not be worth it anymore.

I wouldn't want to be on life support for the rest of my life. I even told my mom if I were to become vegetable to unplug me. Because even if I did know what was going on around me. I wouldn't enjoy seeing everyone waste their time and energy on just me lying on a hospital bed.

People shouldn't be kept on Life Support if there isn't a chance that they will be able to get off it. If they're just going to be a vegetable, it's just wasting energy, space, and resources that could be used to save someone with a chance. Yeah, i wouldn't be able to see any of my family living only by the ability of a machine to work (again) unless there was a good chance they could overcome it and be better again. I would never want to live off a machine either.

this is a really sad thing to think about, but has no one evr thought about donating the organs of the person on life support, who will probably die anyway. That way someone gets a chnace at life that they never thought they would get.

My personal outlook. I mean, I would never want to kill my parents, but I don't think if you can live without life support than you are not really living. If it was me that was on life support then I would want them to pull the plug so I didn't have to suffer any more than I already did. I wouldn't want a machine living for me. I can't speak for anyone else. But thats my personal opinion

Oh, c'mon Jamaica. President Bush is on life support. What do you do? Don't wimp out! You could always trick your conscience by pretending to trip over the cord. Oops!

Well if they requested that in that specific situation, you pull the plug and let them die in peace and avoid suffering, what would you do then, jamaica?

i dont think so.. i mean, i dont ever think i could do that... especially if it were my parents, heaven forbid... I dont know really... i mean, i dont think i have the courage to just cut off someone's life support. It woud totally haunt me for the rest of my life knowing i participated in such a thing.

Yeah, if the person is going to live with permanent brain damage, I would want to pull it.

I had a friend whos brother had to be put onto Life support because he had really bad brain damage from falling off a back of a truck. The family made a decision and took him off life support and he died. They think it was a good idea because he was going to be mentaly retarded/
