While abstinence is not a bad position-especially when concerning STD transmission and teenage pregnancy-promiscuity does not necessarily lead to bad things, even in matters pertaining to sex. You cannot honestly tell people that you are not at all promiscuous in general; we all take certain risks. And even so, no one "deserves" anything. If you friend was driving a little on the fast side to work one day and was pulled over and had to pay a fine, I highly doubt you would say to them, "Well you deserved it!" Nor would you be thinking at his/her funeral "You deserved it!" if he/she ran off the road and into a tree. It is quite inhumane to believe a person "deserves" something so painful and devastating.

I believe you need to work on your people skills and listen a little more to the other side.

Compromise? Instead of posting the articles, post the links. I don't know about other people, but I click the links A LOT.

Also, if I followed my "raging hormones and temporary passion," then I would have lost my virginity already. But I haven't. And do you want to know why? Because I made a choice. Everyone will make a choice, and the best thing to do is to let them know what's out there, yes, and to let them know protection and failure rates, but DON'T overdue it. If you do, people WILL dismiss it, especially if nothing has happened to them yet.

NEarly all times the condon doesn't work, mostly beacuse it broke, it's because it was not used properly.

ANd you are a true idiot if you think the Pill protects you from AIDS.

I don't think it's right to dismiss abstinance as too hard and talk about is as an unrealistic expectation. We have the ability to overcome our basic instinct to reproduce. The human being has an amazing amount of will power. All it takes is a little effort, anything worth having is worth waiting for. I don't see where the problem lies in expecting abstinence before marriage. I expect that from my future spouse just as I am willing to give her that. The problem with teaching "Safe Sex" is that condoms don't work well in preventing AIDS transmission. In 1993, the University of Texas analyzed the results of 11 different studies to find that the average failure rate of a condom in preventing the transmission of AIDS is 31%. I don't like those odds AND the condom cannot prevent HPV, Human Papillomavirus which is the most common sexually transmitted disease in the United States. Teaching kids that the condom is reliable is a lie. 31% may not seem like a big deal but that is only one time to analyze the chance for the condom not failing take the fraction of the time it works about 7/10 and take it to the "x" power where X is the amount of times you have sex and take that total and multiply by 100%. So if you have sex 4 times there is less than a 1 in 4 chance that the condom will work all 4 times. Math is fun isn't it. Still sure about your condoms??? I think kids need to learn that sexual promiscuity isn't the norm and it can be dangerous. Oh and by the way, the pill doesn't protect against AIDS.
