Hey all~

Okay my family is middle-class (were not rich were not poor) which means we can't afford the best doctors, or get the best doctors free. We live on HMO which is the worst kind!

I remember My parents fighting with HMO to let me see the heart doctor I needed to see. I remember My parents fighting for my lil sister to see someone for her reading delay..

Most middle-class people are left out. I mean you see all these people who get everything from the state, (and some are able to work, but have it better not working). Then you have the rich who can pay any doctor for anything.. My parents are still paying off medical bills from when I was 4!!!

Something needs to be done, it's not fair to have differnt RULES!!! for what doctors you can see and what operations you can have beacuse of your income! like someone who is Rich is more inportant!!!

but please, dont reply saying people in 3rd world places dont even see doctors.. cause Im talking about america

It may not be the answer, but it's a far sight better than what the United States has now.

When there is that much of a delay for everyone, able to afford treatment or not...there is a problem. I have no doubts that my aunt would have been able to afford decent health coverage. Then, if she had lived in the US, she would have been seen within a week and they would make sure that she was taken care of.

My cousin was bit by a dog on her face when we were in Canada. She was never seen by a plastic surgeon because none were available. Because of this she has a rather large scar on her face. They have health insurance, but that didn't really mean anything in their medical facilities. Had she been injured in the US, she would have received more appropriate medical attention.

I agree that we ought to do something to make sure that health care is available to everyone...I just do not think socialized health care is the answer.

And that's somehow worse than, say, never receiving treatment at all?

Well actually...I have a lot of family in Canada.

My great aunt had something she feared might be cancerous. They were able to take her in 6 months to check it out, and if it was cancer, it was going to take them another 4 months to remove it. In case you have trouble adding, that puts her at 10 months to remove something that is potentially cancerous.

Now that's not a health care problem at all...

That sounds more like an infrastructure problem. If there's not enough room in the hospitals, they need more or larger hospitals. That's an easy fix compared to poor health care as a whole.

Yeah, but try to get immediate attention in the emergency room. People wait there for hours. Thats a health care problem if I've ever heard one.

The fact of the matter is that medical care costs money. You can't go around giving it out for free because it simply isn't cost-effective. Yes, yes, I know you can give free health care in limited amounts (read up on Paul Farmer for one example), but you can't give the middle-class cheaper health insurance simply because they don't have that much money. Besides the fact that would cause great financial grief to medical institutions and suppliers, it wouldn't be fair to the rich, who would then be paying more for health care simply because they do have the money.

Health care should really cost the same for all economic classes. It should also be easier to get for everyone. I'm thinking socialized health care. You don't hear about many health care problems in Canada, now do you?

I have to side with the other middle classers here. My family is actually on the lower end of the middle class scale, yet my dad's job gives us decent health care coverage.

You wanna hear the best health care? Dont get hurt.

The original draft of The Lord of the Rings featured Chuck Norris instead of Frodo Baggins. It was only 5 pages long, as Chuck roundhouse-kicked Sauron's ass halfway through the first chapter.

My family is middle class and we have good health care, heck I have my own health care for work related injuries (Louie is good to his people even if he pays minimum wage) so don't assume it's bad for all middle class folks just cause it's bad for you

You can't speak for ALL middle class just because you are middle class and have bad healthcare. I'm middle class, and my healthcare is fine.

You make it seem like a fact, when you don't have any idea if this is an isolated incident. I don’t even know if the fact that my middle class healthcare is fine is an isolated incident.

You can’t go around protesting with a bag full of empty facts.
